Description for Mazda RX-7 1983
For sale is an immaculate example of a 1983 Mazda RX-7. Driven a mere 39,xxx miles in its life, t has been taken care of by both of its previous owners, nd I have continued to use, ove, nd maintain it as they each did before me.The details:
Car is a GSL trim level, hich included leather trimmed cloth interior, 4" alloy wheels, isc brakes all around, nd a limited-slip differential. In addition, his particular example was further optioned "to the nine's." Every option is present on this car, ave for the 13B engine that was not available until the next production year. Power windows, ower mirrors, ruise control, ir conditioning, adio, ear wiper, emovable "targa" sunroof; all of which remain in 100% functional order. As well as these creature comforts, he visuals were also treated, ith a full IMSA appearance package. Consisting of a full front air dam (bumper), 3 piece duck bill spoiler, nd a stainless steel "targa band" (a tribute/theft from the targaPorsche'sof the day). On top of that rare package, he original buyer added a factory optioned set of rear louvers (not pictured on the car, ut included in equally as nice condition).
The vehicles original owner was an older gentleman from just outside of Pittsburgh, A who bought the car new, nd owned ituntil3/4 years ago. Driving it only on weekends, r special occasions, he car never saw rain, nd more importantly never saw northern snow or salt, s such the underside is rust free and fantastically clean for a first generation car. The 2nd owner, union metalworker from Long Island, Y purchased the car as a novelty runabout, riving it to the occasional nearby job, r on a nice weekend here and there. He may have amassed few thousand miles tops, efore deciding the car was too small for how large a guy he was, nd chose to part ways with it. I flew up to NY after seeing many pictures and talking in detail with him, nd purchased the car, riving it back to NC without hesitation or trouble.
Both previous owners garaged the car, nd it never saw a drop of snow, nd virtually no rain. In my tenure, have driven the car more than most would, o it has lived outdoors, ut kept under a $300 dollar tailored car cover (included with the sale) when not driven, r when any remotelyinclementweather reared its head. The carreceivednew brake calipers, otors, ads, nd lines, ew struts and springs, ew tires, nd a few other upkeep items from the previous owner. In me tenure, ll it has needed was a couple oil changes, nd a water pump replacement (the original began dripping from the weep hole, o a new one was fitted before any further wear or failure occurred). It has zero issues, t starts, tops, rives, nd functions as any sub 40,000 mile vehicle on this earth should function.
It is by no means a museum piece. It has been driven, sed, nd shows it in what small waysseparatea collectible driver from a concours vehicle. There are two sub-pinky-nail sized spots of paint damage with light rust, ut have not grown or worsened since my purchasing. In addition, he front valence shows normal tiny rock chipping and a number of abrasions from parking and scraping as it is a rather low front end. The drivers door seems to have been opened into a curb or other low object at some point, ut no paint damage appears present, nd the crease lookseasilyrepairable (possibly without repainting needed). The wheels are possibly the worst part of the car, s it seems one of the two owners, ikely the first, et the car sit with brake dust on the wheels, hich left them with some surface corrosion. Cleaning yielded no significant improvement in the wheels, ut refinishing them may be possible. As a driver, one of these issues bothered me in the least, utthey are defects from the car being a truly flawless example, owever, ost all are repairable, nd without removing the car from being an all original example in any way.
That said, t is an exceptionally clean, ell kept driver, n an uncommon color (rich brown as opposed to the ubiquitous gold hue they were more often seen in), ith every option imaginable, ncluding the very rare IMSA package. Prior to my purchasing, studied the market heavily, nd while quite a few low mileage 1st Gen's are available, any in equally fantastic shape too, ew were so fully optioned, nd none included the IMSA package (I may have seen 1 or 2 IMSA's for sale total since buying, nd both were past the 50,000 mile mark).
I have placed a modest and fair reserve on the car, hould there be educated and eager buyers looking, can assure you the reserve will be easily met and passed. I will gladly work with the buyer to facilitate shipping or pickup. Deposit expected within 2 days of auction ending, ith full payment made in 10 days time. Will also try to facilitate whichever method of payment is most convenient and comfortable for buyer.
