Description for Mazda MX-5 Miata 1993

Offered for sale here is our rare 1993 Mazda MX-5 Miata C package! This was a very significant model offered that year, which added all available options PLUS Tan Leather Interior and the matching Tan top! This example, finished in it’s original MX-5 “Classic Red”, is a stunning little car with very low miles!

When it was built on 7/14/1993, this was one of only 6,723 C Package cars and carried the hefty price of $19,605! Quite a steep price for what was advertised as an entry-level sports roadster. That’s $32,169.97 in today’s dollars!
This car was shipped new to Cleveland Ohio where it was sold new with 363 miles on it, the first owner had it until August of 2006 and racked up 33,165 miles in those 13yrs. The 2nd owner had it from 8/06 to 06/11 and left the mileage at 50,000. It then passed through several dealers over the next 2 years before arriving in our collection in October of 2013 with 53,625 on the odometer.

We’ve only driven it on sunny days since then, and have only accumulated another 6,000 miles, leaving the current odometer reading as 59,471! Incredibly low miles for a 23yr old car!

The car still wears it’s factory Classic Red paint, which is in exceptional condition; of course, being a used car, it has nicks, swirls, and blemishes here and there around the car. There were a pair of racing stripes on the car that were removed but left visible imprints on the paint; I took 10 minutes and polished the hood and they are almost completely gone already, so surely some additional buffing will eradicate the evidence. The rear tail-light panel is faded more than the rest of the car, most likely due to sun damage, this may polish out or need to be resprayed. The body is totally solid and 100% RUST FREE. As you’ll see in the photos below, there are no signs or rust, corrosion, or repairs anywhere on the car. Everything seems to be very well maintained and intact. No evidence of any modifications or repairs to the body panels, and every single VIN sticker is present and matching, so no panels were replaced or refinished.

The engine has apparently always been serviced and not raced or abused. Still starts, idles, and drives like a new car. No smoke, shakes or weird sounds. Since it has so few miles, I believe the timing belt is still the factory-issued one and has not been replaced. Transmission shifts perfectly, and the rear end is leak free and works just fine.

A/C works and blows Ice-Cold!!

The interior is still in beautiful shape for it’s age. The seats are still firm and supportive and the carpets are not stained or torn. The driver’s seat has wear from entry and exit of the car, but has not been worn-through or torn. The interior panels are not cracked or missing, everything appears to be just as the factory assembled them. The car has a 10-disc CD changer mounted in the trunk, and the controls are via a remote between the seats. Car also has an aftermarket Kenwood stereo head unit installed with corresponding remote in the glove-box.

The original Tan top is in excellent shape with no tears, rips, or leaks. The original window was aged and difficult to see through, so we ordered a replacement window panel and had a professional upholstery shop sew it into the original top section. The factory Tan tonneau cover is still in excellent condition as seen in the photos below, some slight creases from being folded, but some attention could probably relieve these issues. The trunk panels are in great condition, no signs of water leakage, or damage. Factory spare tire and jacking equipment are in place and unmolested.

Factory alloy wheels are in excellent condition and show no curb damage or cracks. Tires were recently replaced and are wearing well with no signs of weather-damage or age decay.

Overall, this is an exceptionally low-mile, well maintained, and rust free C Package MX-5. It’s always been well taken care of and is sure to provide years of fun in the sun. If you’ve been seeking out a pristine 1st Gen MX-5, then take a look at the photos below and look no further - this is the car for you!
