Description for Mazda RX7 1986
Some years ago, this car was built into a bare bones eighth mile drag car in North Carolina with a mild 280 HP crate small block Chevy engine with an added supercharger. That engine was recently replaced by a new custom built carbureted only 360 ci small block Chevy engine reported to have near 500 horsepower but has not been dynoed. The transmission is a modified GM Turbo 350 with a 3,000 rpm stall converter and B&M shifter. The rear differential was built by Rotary Engineering and is reportedly capable of withstanding 500 horsepower. The rear end ratio is 4:10. The car has a full cage, fuel cell, rear mounted battery, custom made dash, all new wiring, aftermarket seats, removable steering wheel, and new Hoosier slicks. The car was made street legal by the previous owner who added lights, seats, exhaust, carpet, etc. It is registered and tagged in Georgia, and has a clean and clear Georgia title in my name. The paint and general condition of the car is good but more race car quality than show car. The car has no heat or A/C but does have working power windows and a full exhaust system.
The engine is a .30 over 350 with a high nickel 4 bolt main block, steel Standard crank, 6 inch forged I-beam rods, flat top forged pistons (10.7 to 1), 64cc Pro Comp aluminum heads (2.02/1.60 valves), roller rockers, Cams Inc. flat tappet camshaft, roller rockers, single plane intake, 750 cfm Holley double pumper, MSD ignition, custom headers, and 2.5 inch exhaust with Flow Master mufflers.
The car was raced by the previous owner on the TV show Street Outlaws against Farm Truck (Shawn Whitley) in season 2 of Street Outlaws TV show and again on season 3 with the first engine. The car won the season 2 race but lost the season 3 race. I have video of season 2 race.
I've only had the car a couple of months but it's just a bit too rowdy for this 70 year old man. It's also just about impossible for me to enter and exist with my ruptured discs due to the side protection bars. The reserve is very low so you won't be wasting your time bidding. I can assist with transportation and storage until transportation is arranged.
