Description for Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 1976
Offered for sale is an absolutely stunning, ompletely original, ell-documented, 8k original mile 1976 Mercedes-Benz 450SL finished in rare and desirable Deep Green (DB 735) over a Bamboo leather interior. Delivered new on January 27th, 977 by Auto Engineering, nc. of Lexington, assachusetts to McWalter Insurance Agency (Mr. David McWalter) of Concord, A, he car would remain in his care for 25 years, sed only sparingly as a weekend driver until 2002, hen old age caused him to the sell the car to its second and most recent owner, retired body shop owner in New Hampshire. Having had years of experience in the industry, he second owner purchased the car primarily because of its completely original paint and accident-free history. He and his wife would use the car as a fair weather weekend driver over the ensuing 13 years until we acquired it earlier this summer. Each of its owners have always provided the car with the highest level of care, riving it sparingly, lways keeping it properly garaged, ever subjecting it to any New England winters and always having it professionally serviced. As the pictures show, hat level of care has yielded an exceptionally beautiful and incredibly well-preserved example, ndoubtedly one of the finest, ost original R107s on the market. Completely free of any accidents, he original body is entirely straight, etaining uniform factory correct panel fits and gaps and cloaked in its gorgeous, ompletely factory original Deep Green finish. Consistent, eep and lustrous, he paint is marred only by the most negligible of imperfections, one of which are significant enough to appear in any of the pictures or detract from the car’s considerable appeal. The brightwork is in excellent original condition, s is all of the glass and rubber, nd the car retains its original color-matched hub-capped steel wheels, somewhat uncommon option for mid-1970s examples, ut one that is in our opinion much more vintage and far superior aesthetically as compared to the more common “Bundt” style wheels. Neither the hard top nor the soft top were ever used with any regularity and they are both consequently in excellent original condition. Having spent its entire life used exclusively in favorable weather and always properly garaged, he car’s original undercarriage is completely solid and original with no corrosion or rust to speak of. The car’s interior is entirely original and equally as clean, he Bamboo leather seats exhibiting only the mild patina one would expect of a very low mileage, early 40 year old car and the carpets and interior panels nearly flawless. Everything works, ncluding the power windows, ower antenna, riginal Becker radio and air conditioning system (which still blows ice cold), nd the original dash is free of any cracks or sun damage. The trunk is clean and entirely original, ousing the spare wheel, attery box and complete original tool kit. The car also comes with all of its original books and manuals (including the stamped service booklet), he original data cards, he original “protecto” plate a thick stack of service records, onsistent registration documents and a copy of the the original sales invoice Despite its sparing use, he car was always professionally maintained and is also mechanically strong, he original, umbers matching engine starting easily, dling consistently and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the automatic transmission’s gears. Compression is excellent across all cylinders, he car drives and brakes straight and true, nd the ride quality is excellent. We recently took the car on a +/-100 mile weekend jaunt up to the Santa Ynez Valley for an afternoon of wine tasting, nd I’m happy to report that the car performed beautifully without any issues to note, espite the 90+ degree temperature. The 4.5L V8 is smooth and torquey and the car is a joy from behind the wheel, hether tooling around town, inding through the canyons or bombing down the highway. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a true investment grade R107 SL that checks all the right boxes for the discerning collector or weekend enthusiast: completely original, ow original mileage, orgeous and desirable color combination, trong mechanicals and an excellent, ell documented history. If you’re in the market for a collector quality SL, his is beautiful example deserves your serious consideration. Please Note: The car was acquired from New Hampshire, paperless title state and becauseit’s a vehicle over 20 years old. It is currently being re-titled in California but can be sold immediately with valid California DMV sales documents. We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to answer any questions, o please feel free to email us or call us at 805-708-2404.

We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, ut we’re enthusiasts, ot experts, nd we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, s the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding.
