Description for Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 1972

*** I am relisting this car due to non-payment from the winning bidder of the auction 2 weeks ago. The car sold for $1900 and it is worth every penny. I have priced the car for a quick sale at the reduced price of $1750. 00 Last chance folks; if the car does not sell by the weekend. we intend to donate it to charity. Please do not bid on the car if you do not intend to buy it. Thank you. Any questions please email Mike. My brother purchased this car in 1999 and used it as an occasional driver / weekend toy on and off for ten years. He stopped driving in 2010 and stored the car covered in his driveway. At this point he would like to sell the car and see it go to a good home and I am listing it for him. I have performed the following services to get the car closer to road worthy condition: New battery. Drain fuel tank and add fresh fuel. new fuel pump and flexible lines and fuel filter. clean carburetor. Adjust valves and new valve cover gasket. Service points. clean plugs. new air filter. New thermostat and coolant sensor. drain and fill coolant system. Oil and filter change. Replaced electric horns as both originals were inoperative. The car runs well and the 4 speed automatic transmission shifts correctly. The body is straight and clean. but the paint on the hood and front fenders is flawed. It was obvious back in 1999 that the nose of the car had been repainted at some point. and that paint pitted and bubbled in several spots when the car sat under a cover for four years. The bad spots have been ground and painted with rustoleum to prevent further damage. nbsp;and obviously you can see the touch up. Please look at the pictures. I took care to photograph the hood in critical light so you can see how it looks. It's fine for a driver. but not to show. The interior of the car is in very nice condition for its age. The driver door pocket fell off. nbsp;and has been saved in the trunk. The radio is not original - someone did the classic 70s modification and installed a cassette stereo and rear deck speakers and it still operates ok. The original speaker is still in the dash. The driver floor carpet mat has a hole where your heel hits the floor and I put a rubber mat over it. The car will need the following before being driven: The brake lights and heater blower motor are inoperative and I don't know why. They are both on the same fuse and the fuse is good. The tires are dry rotted and should be replaced. The brakes work but are not 100% and should be checked. The original electric choke was removed long ago. I have a manual choke kit that goes with the car. but I never installed it as the engine starts readily without a choke and I always warm it up before driving. As to the mileage on the car: My brother purchased the car in June of 1999 at 33110 miles and I have the documents. The odometer now reads 47240 miles. but I can't claim this is accurate because the odometer stopped working after I drove the car 7 miles. The speedo works fine. but the odometer stops at times. I believe the car has approximately 50k miles on it. I have a Clymer manual. an oil change kit. and an extra fuel filter that goes with the car. Please email Mike with any questions. Any local bidders are welcome to come check out the car and go for a ride. I have set a low reserve as we need to move the car and it does need a few repairs. Buyer is responsible for pickup / shipping arrangements. I'll be happy to help if I can. Thanks for looking.
