We purchased this classic Mercedes sedan after it was donated to charity. It was in running condition when we got it. and really just in need of some basic service and cleanup. This turned out to be a clean. good looking car that is fun to drive. Our service in preparation for sale included: new battery. oil change. tune up - valve adjustment. points adjusted. new spark plugs. new brake master cylinder. new front brake rotors. brake fluid flush. new exhaust pipe (center) a/c compressor replaced with working used unit. tires and a full detail - wash. buff. wax etc. We also had the temp/fuel gauge serviced and the clock repaired. With the donated cars. we don't often get much paperwork and in this case. there were no service records or documentation present. And with only a 5 digit odometer. we cannot say with any certainty what the mileage is. But going by the originality under the hood and the condition of the interior. this Mercedes is not likely to be a terribly high mileage car. Mechanically. this example is in good shape. It runs and drives well. Buyers looking for a neat classic car that is ready to drive will likely be totally satisfied as this is not a project car. Buyers looking for a pristine. all original eaxmple may be disappointed. This Mercedes was originally white. although whoever put the time and effort into changing to black was very thorough. The only clue really was the blue interior. We finally found some evidence of the original color behind a door seal. The black paint is actually kind of a black cherry color and really looks nice. Our detailer spent many hours with the buffer and really made this car shine. While it isn't correct. it certainly looks nice. This Mercedes is also not very rusty for a vehicle of this age. There is no rust evident on the body and only minor/normal rust & wear underneath. There is only one small spot that eventually should be addressed in the right front wheel well. The interior is pretty much all original. The seats and door panels are MB Tex (vinyl) and are holding up. The wool carpet is deteriorating. as it should after all this car is 44 years old. The wood trim on top of the dash has been replaced at some point. Everything seems to work inside including the AM/FM radio. The jack & spare are present along with a service manual.
