1977 Mercedes 240D Diesel. Took on a 1,000 mile round-trip in June 2015, an greatand averaged 30mpg. Have owned for 16 years, ince 1999. However, ast time driven it overheated, pilled anti-freezeand quit. From reading service manual, t appears to need a head gasket or water pump? For someone who is mechanically-minded, hese may be minor problems. Won't shut off when you remove the key. Have to either kill it by popping the clutch, r sucking on a vacuum hose. Some exhaust leaks. Wipers rest in upright position, o I removed and placed them in down position. Rear carpetsmells musty due to small leak into interior when it rains. Rust in usual spots. All glass is very good. Professionally re-upholstered over original upholstery (see photos). Love the diesel sound and smell! Glow plugs work normally, ngine sounds great when it is running. Oil changed regularly. May need alternator? because headlights grow dim when it is driven after dark. A/C no longer works. Decent matching Goodyear tires. Fun to drive 4-speed manual transmission. Use for parts or fix up. I'm no mechanic, nd this is a 38 year-old car with over 231,000 miles on it - have your mechanic check it out before driving. MAKE ANY OFFER!
