Description for Mercedes-Benz G-Class 1985

I bought this very rare, relatively low mileage 1985 Mercedes Gelandewagen almost 10 years ago, s a commercial realtor specializing in land sales. Only really used it for off road driving on one occasion, ut surveyeda fair amountof mountainside land sites on paved roads, nd have had a lot of fun with it.This has been a real novelty, howcase type of avehicle and continues to be a head turner, ny time I drive it. Since I've transitioned out of the land business, really haven't driven the vehicle more than 1,000 miles in the last2 years, nd would rather sell it to a G-wagonenthusiast, atherthan to just keep it garaged. I''ve also only putjust over6,000 miles on the vehicle in the 10 years that I've owned it. It has been a 3rd vehicle, sed way too moderately, hough it's been extremely reliable. I am now moving to a home that will only accommodate 2 cars, nd with a heavy travel schedule, 'm not able to drive or garage this any longer.

Imported into the US by Europa, he G-Class was originally the offspring of a 1979 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Austrian companies Steyr and Puch. This early G 500 ( 280 GE)was alsoimported into the US by Europa, or two decades before officially arriving on U.S. shores. a variety of gasoline and diesel engines, arly Gs are rugged utilitarian workhorses with a go-anywhere reputation, nd this one certainlyis a rugged workhorse. At over 2 tons, ome would describe this as an over engineered, xpensive, ugged, olling bank vault because of it's size and early military utilization. Ebay does not recognize the VINon this European vehicle, ut it is WDB46023317901737.

The pictures attached to this listing show the car in both the previous state, nd the current state. About 18 months ago, had the front headlights changed from the original, o a lower intensity HID set of headlights. The mechanic failed to tighten the screws on the right casing, nd so the casing disengaged while I was driving the vehicle out of the parking lot, nd so as you'll see in some of the latter pictures, he paint has scraped off of this casing and the casing will need to be painted.

The car also has some rust on the front right just below the windshield, s you'll also note in the pictures, nd some minor rust on the back fender. In the last 3 months, 've had trouble starting the car, ince I don't get a chance to drive it often anymore. My mechanic put in a cold start bypass switch, ut my contention is that the fuelpump may actually need some work. This issue with this car is that most mechanics aren't trained on this vehicle, nd aren't confident in their ability to diagnose and repair. But someone who knows and understands older cars well, ill be able to pick up this rare vehicle at a great value. With less than 100,000 miles on this vehicle, this vehicle may have only driven 30% of its capacity! An absolute workhorse, nd a great restoration project for the right owner. Early pictures show the vehicle without the chipped paint and rust below the windshield. This will give you a great idea of what you're workingwith. Beautiful!! Later pictures show the vehicle in its current state, ut not tons of exterior to repair, n comparison. I have the original operating manual and records/receipts, s well as clear title, f course. The vehicle is currently registered and insured.

If necessary, am available to show the vehicle in person, with some proper notice. I do travel for business and so weekends are best for me. I would be happy toarrange and facilitateshipping to your location., hough shipping is not included with this purchase.I do only accept PayPal, nless a verified cashier's check is delivered in person. The vehicle is located inHenderson, V. Car is being sold in as is condition. Best of luck to you in the bidding process, nd I know you'll enjoy this rare, lassic vehicle.

At nearly 3 tons, ome describe it as an over-engineered, eather-lined rolling bank vault would be perfectly acceptable. It's tall with a healthy step-in height, ts doors close with a reassuring clunk, pace efficiency is unexceptional and its heft contributes to poor fuel economy and ponderous handling.
