Description for Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 1973

Up for auction is atrulyremarkable 1973 Mercedes Benz 350SL.This all original car was part of an estate for most of it's pampered life. Itthenspend a decade in the care of an automotive museum.I believe I am the third owner. Themuseumcurator recently spent almost eight thousand with a local Mercedes specialist to go over the whole car, includingthe entire fuel injection system, ils filters etc. (Records come with car.) Because of the complete care that has been lavished on the brilliant vehicle since day one, his SL350 is one of the best cars on the road!!Starting from the outside, he all original paint finish is unbelievably shiny, ith anexceptionallystraight body, I can't find any apparent dents on the car, hough there are some scratches that have been touched up.) The trim is the best I have ever see, n like New condition. Same goes for the bumpers and all the chrome in general, t is immaculate!Factory color coded hub caps, uro bumpers, og lamps, uro parking lampsreallyset thisapartfrom all the later US versions with their unsightly bumpers and trim.
Atrulyelegant car!
The Interior; again as you would expect from a low mileMuseumquality Mercedes is like new. Barely any wear on the original upholstery and plastics. Nothing seems to have ever been apart. All the interior pieces and carpets fit snug together and all are in like new shape. No sun fade, o rips. Everything electrical or otherwise works like it's supposed to.Power windows, ower locks, ual zone heating AND Air Conditioning. Ice cold Air. The Clock works! (When have you seen a VDO KIENZLE clock working last?)Perfect door sills, nd door jambs with no paint lines or any kind of evidence of repairs.Speaking of which, s you can tell by the originalpaintedsurfaces, his car was obviously never wrecked nor did it ever have any rust. All the panels are original, nd rust free even the headlight buckets (always rusted in other cars), hat are so Perfect in this car THEY HAVE THE FACTORYCHALKMARKS FROM THE MECHANICS INSindelfingen,West Germany. (see pic)
And now for the best part. The drivetrain.I can sayunequivocallyand withoutprejudice, hat this is the BEST, IGHTEST, nd SMOOTHEST Mercedes I have ever driven. And I have driven everyiterationof the 107 and all it's variants. The motor starts hot or cold instantly and keeps a low, erfect idle all the time. Even with the air on in traffic. (350's and early 450's are notorious for sky high cold start idle.)It comes to temperature straight away, nd does not flinch, ven on a 100 degree day with the air on full blast in traffic!!This motor is Sooo smooth. Even rumble, uiet, trong and tight. No leakswhatsoever. This car DOES NOT SMOKE. EVER! Hot or cold. The transmission just had it's service at Silverstar and like the motor is leak free, mooth, trong and tight. You can't feel this car shift. Shifts up and downtimelyand effortlessly.
The suspension is in fact the best in the world. No shakes, o squeels, o rattles. Smooth, nd soft. Makes the worst roads livable. And then you can still go around turns fast without any effort from your part. The brakes, f course, re perfect. It's a Mercedes. They were also recently serviced.
To conclude, his is a TURN KEY, O EXCUSE, O RUST, LL ORIGINAL Mercedes 350SL that is going to appreciate every year as long as you take good care of it like everyone else before you.
Simply, HE BEST CAR IN THE WORLD. (1972 Car and Driver)
