The 1978 model of the Mercedes-Benz 300D has essentially the same dimensions as the 1976 model. The only difference is the height, hich is 56.7 inches in the 1978 version. The weight and the fuel capacity also remain the same, s does the engine location and alignment. The 1978 engine has a slightly smaller displacement, 998 cubic centimeters, ut has five cylinders with 10 valves like the 1976 model. Also identical in both models is the use of rear-wheel drive, oil spring suspension and front and rear disc brakes.
