Introduced in late 1951, he new Mercedes Benz 300-series was launched and marketed as their flagship model to compete with Rolls Royce, entley, nd BMW as exclusive, igh end luxury vehicles.  Equivalent to the S-Series of today, hey were offered in a variety of body styles with the 4-door Saloon being the most popular.  They were exclusively designed for over a decade, hanging with distinctions as the 300b, 00c, nd finally the 300d.  The first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, onrad Adenauer, enuinely admired the 300-Series very much and utilized 6 different models over his 15 years of tenure, eaving the model affectionately known today as the Adenauer Mercedes.  These exclusive vehicles were produced through March of 1962 before being replaced by the 600-Series.

We are proud to offer this 1960 Mercedes Benz 300d W189 Saloon finished in beautiful Graphite Gray (190B) with original Red Leather interior.  Fitted with its original, umbers matching 2996cc Bosch mechanical direct fuel injection 6 cylinder engine mated to its original automatic transmission, his example features a host of factory options that include power steering, ower brakes, DO instrumentation, ecker Mexico AM/FM radio, lectric wipers, ietz driving lamp, F Goodrich Silvertown wide whitewall tires measuring 7.60-15", nd original Sekurit side glass with Sigla windshield.

This example survives from the Kemp Auto Museum where it has been used only sparingly since their acquisition into the foundation in 2008.  Today, t shows only 59,283 miles on the odometer which are believed to be accurate.  It recently received a thorough check up and tune by GLB Motorworks Inc. based I here in St. Louis, O which included cleaning and freeing up the injector pump and plungers for optimum fuel injection operation, nd new ignition rotor within the distributor.  With fresh oil & filter, t has regained faithful operation starting and running with ease.  We would like to mention that this rare example, eing one of just 3,077 Saloons produced, as seen a cosmetic restoration that has not included the undercarriage.  The paint was renewed prior to the purchase of the Kemp Foundation, long with re-dying the interior leather seating surfaces, nd a very professional detail of the engine compartment to show worthy standards.  It is priced accordingly for a quick sale.  The market for these powerful and elegant Mercedes examples is growing every day.  We feel this is an excellent opportunity to own a complete number's matching, riginal example that can later be properly restored throughout.  Please feel welcome to call with questions, r schedule a chance to see it in person.  Thanks for looking!
