1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Roadster
Selling my 450SL roadster convertible that I have just recently put a whole lot of money into. I bought this car this past August for my daughter from a not so honest person. When I first bought it the car was supposed to have had a fresh California smog and supposedly had just been registered none of which was true. The top was also supposed to be in good condition. Sorry I was so naive and stupid in not checking things over but it was a long rainy drive to go pick it up and when I got there the gentleman had it running and ready to go and he seemed to be honest but he was not.
The day after I purchased it I went to DMV to register only to find out that it had not been registered in a couple of years, OW to make a long story short I had been had. I went to get it smogged in which it would not pass which only became a nightmare of issues. The car is now smogged currently registered and it runs and drives very nice, ery fast and fun to drive and I really wish I could afford to keep it now but I can't.
Here is everything that I have done to this car since August; I had to replace vacuum transducer, here was a broken vacuum line up under manifold which needed to be fixed, ew intake manifold gaskets, ew water pump, ew thermostat, ulled radiator and had it refurbished, ew distributor cap rotor and plugs, ew rear brakes rotors and calipers, ew rear axle bearings, ew fuel and air filters, ew hood liner, ew convertible top. I have put over 8K in this car not counting what I originally paid for it which is why I am selling now, could not afford the repairs that were necessary and now I am just in hopes of getting some of my money back. It is a very nice ride now and very fun to drive, t should make someone very happy to own. This car is not in mint condition but does not need much to be there and that's why I am not putting a reserve.
If you are the lucky winner you could fly into Redding California, e do have an airport and drive her home which I would make sure she has a full tank of gas, r get a quote for shipping. This car is in very good condition even has the original radio which works good. Car is white and paint is in fair condition could use maybe a touch up in a few places, ll chrome and bumpers in good condition, o chips or cracks in glass, ires better than 85% rubber, nterior is very red and in good condition, river seat has tear in it (see pictures), omes with a very expensive set of white sheep wool seat covers ($1200) very comfortable, inted windows. The only thing that is not working is the blower for the ac/heat. It also has pretty cool ground effects kit on car, have never seen one with, t also has a signature E. Nardi steering wheel. It has both Hard Top and a brand new convertible top with 6 year warranty and it has the pulley for taking hard top off.
I am starting this auction off at only $8500 and no reserve which according to both NADA GUIDES and Haggerty car values for a 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SL low is $11,600 and the average retail is $20,600 and a high of $31,600. I am selling car as is and have disclosed everything. Thank you and Happy Bidding and may we all have a good year to come.
