Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1983

NO RESERVE!! HIGH BID WINS!!

For sale by Smith Motor Company Inc. is this 1983 Mercedes 380SL Convertible. This car is being sold at no reserve, as-is, to the highest bidder. A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending and full payment within 7 days of auction ending. This car is being sold by the dealership and will require buyers signature on a few documents to complete sale. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup. NO INTERNATIONAL BUYERS!. I will do my best to describe the condition of the car in this ad but please feel free to ask me any additional questions you may have.

The380SL is in good shape for its age and runs and drives. It has been sitting, unattended for about a year and a half. I cranked it up the other day and it is emitting some black smoke from the exhaust whenthe engine is revved. It was not doing that when it was parked so it may just need to be run for a while, I'm not sure. The car has a small gas leak from around the fuel filter, looks to be a missing washer or seal possibly. Both power windows work, and all gauges seem to work except for the gas gauge. A new fuel sending unit is included with sale(see pics)The odometer is showing right over 67,000 miles but I'm pretty sure it is inoperable as well. The blower motor is not functioning nor is the aftermarket radio.

The convertible soft top is in great condition and folds back as it should. No rips or tears in the fabric. The front seats are in good shape with a couple of worn spots as seen in pics. The rear seat has been recovered with aftermarket material. There is a rip around the area where the top release crank handle is. The carpet is missing in front drivers floorboard and rear drivers floorboard. Dash is cracked and wood grain trim around shifterhas some damage as well. The spare tire compartment is clean with no rust. Floorboards are solid with no rust. There is some rust showing under door sills along rocker panels as you open the doors(see pics). I have 2 new door sills included with sale.

The exterior of the 380SL is in overall good shape. As seen in pics, there is a pushed in spot on drivers door and a few pings on trunk lid. The passenger side of the car and hood are really straight. There are 2 side molding pieces missing but I have them and will include them in the sale. Yokohama tires on all 4 corners and they have great tread left on them. Factory wheels are in good shape too. One of the rubber bumper stops on the front bumper is broken off although I have it and will include with sale. The clear coat is peeling on a few areas of the vehicle and could use a fresh coat of paint. The drivers outside door handle is broken but I have a good one included in the sale. Along with the door handle and door sills there are (4) fuel filters, a fuel sending unit, and other misc. parts I am throwing in with sale(see pics).

If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will respond as soon as I can. If you would like to view vehicle, it is located in McCormick, S.C. Thanks.
