What makes this SL differ from the other ones on the US roads is that this is EUROPEAN model, featuring more powerful 5.0 liter V8 engine (more power and HP than US model 560SL), elegant European one piece square headlights, and more aesthetically appealing European short bumpers – The way Mercedes-Benz Designed the R107 Series!. The 500SL is also fastest production R107 SL produced!!

During its production course from 1980-1989 there was ONLY 11,812 of 500SL’s produced WORLDWIDE and this beauty is ONE of them!!!

With its rare and desirable color combination, and the fact that this is true, Original EUROPEAN 500SL, there is not a lot of R107 SL’s like this one on the road today!!

Exterior:

Its Rare and ORIGINAL Black (Paint Code 040G schwarz) paint has a beautiful shine and luster, and it looks like the day it left the showroom floor!! Chrome is in absolutely excellent condition, it is complete, healthy and new looking, and this beautiful roadster is a head turner and conversation piece everywhere it goes.

This Mercedes is very solid and rust free example (please see pictures!!!). It was always kept in Air Conditioned Garage and it shows!!!

Body is in wonderful condition and it is straight as an arrow! All doors, hood, and trunk are operating with ease, and everything lines up properly. It was never in an accident, and It has been always garaged, pampered and kept away from rain and bad weather!!

Factory VIN # stamping on the front radiator support shows originality of this car. Whole engine bay is healthy looking and very clean, without signs of paint, undercoating, or any other signs of abuse!!!

There is just not a lot of 500SL’s out there in this solid and amazingly kept and preserved original condition!!

Original floors are solid, unmolested and free of any kind of undercoating’s! If you wipe the road dirt and dust from the inside of the fenders, original factory Black Paint is revealed, proving the originality of the undercarriage, and showing how solid and beautiful this SL actually is!

Like they say “Originality is king when it comes to classic cars”!! Not only does finding a 30ish year old car that has not been altered by numerous past owners add to your enjoyment of the car; the more original features that you can substantiate the better when it comes time to sell your treasure!!!

Mechanical rebuilds are straight forward and not costly compared to trying to correct a previously crashed or rusted car. This SL is equipped with both soft top, and the hard top! Its ORIGINAL Black Soft top is in great condition, and it is very easy to operate, and vinyl windows are nice and clear. Original Hard top is also in great condition, including all the glass, and the headliner which is clean, and rips and tears free!! Another sign of originality of this beautiful car is stamping mark on the Hard Top (22070) which reflects the last 5 digits of the vehicles VIN number!!!

Chrome Bundt wheels are wrapped with matching Michelin tires, and they really compliment the Black exterior of this beauty!

-Interior

Being stored in Air-Conditioned garage its whole life helped this beauty kept in excellent and preserved original condition even after 31 years of its life!!! Original Palomino interior is in excellent condition!!!! Carpet is in like-new condition, not faded, and its rips and tears free!! Original Leather Seats are supple, and in excellent condition as well, new looking, and very supportive and comfortable. All rubber seals are nice and soft!

Whole interior is in excellent condition, and it smells brand new inside! Wood looks new and healthy without any cracks in the clearcoat from the heat or sun, and dash is in excellent condition without any cracks – which is very common occurrence on R107’s that were exposed to sun and heat!

This Mercedes comes with the original radio, and the power windows and they are all working as they should!!

Just take a look at the pictures, and you will get an idea about the condition of this car, how nicely it is kept, and how beautiful it is. It really does not get any better than this!

-Engine & Transmission

European Spec 5.0 Liter V8 Engine starts up with ease, and it is strong and powerful as ever with only 57,000 miles on the odometer (only about 1,800 miles per year!!). Right before we acquired it, its previous owner had a full tune up done on it, including spark plugs, wires, ignition cap, rotor, air filter, oil change, new fuel pump and fuel filter, and this beauty is ready for its new owner!

Despite the larger 5.6 liter engine of the 560 SL, the 500 SL is recorded as being the fastest production R107 SL produced. The 500 SL was published by Mercedes-Benz as having 0-60mph times of 7.4 seconds for a top speed of 225km/h (140mph). Torque for the 500 SL is 296lb·ft (401N·m) at 3200 rpm and for the 560 SL 287lb·ft (389N·m) at 3500 rpm.

Automatic Transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly through every gear, and it makes this SL absolute joy to drive and cruise in! This German Roadster handles great at the high speeds, and it is very comfortable.

Air Condition works as it should, and this car is ready for some fall topless fun!!!! There is nothing better than driving down the road with the top down, and the wind in your hair!!!

This beautiful Mercedes comes with its original manual, never used Safety Triangle sign as well as with its original Tool Set and First Aid Kit! Both the Tool set and the First Aid kit are still wrapped in its original nylon packaging and they have never been opened!!!!

Original Michelin Spare tire NEVER touched the road!!!! All proper new tire markings are still visible on the tire!!! Inside of the spare tire wheel looks brand new without any marks or dust on it!! VERY rare to find on a vehicle that is few years old, let alone on a vehicle that is 31 years old!!!!!
