Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1981
For sale is this 1981 Mercedes Benz 300d that has a WVO waste veggie oil conversion kit installed. The car is in VERY good condition for a 35 yo car. The interior is in very good condition, leather is good, dash is good. In a couple of places the trim could stand to be repaired, but overall it is in great shape.Things to be aware of: The passengers side front window is not working, it needs a new switch (about $30) We replaced the one of the driver's side and just never got to the passenger side one. The odometer, the sunroof and the cruise control are temperamental. We recently replaced the vacuum pump which may impact the "temperamental" stuff-but can't be sure of that. We have not driven it much since we replaced the pump as winter came. We only used the car in the summer time as we did not want to subject it to the snowy treated roads of New England. (We purchased the car from North Carolina). As far as we can tell it is rust free.
The drivers side front panel was replaced due to a ding (not an accident). It needs to be painted and could have been lined up a bit better, but it fits well. A little paint and it should be good to go. A piece of trim is missing from the back panel. One of the reasons we bought this particular model (other than it is an amazing beast that won't quit and is highly regarded as one of the best cars for veggie kits) was for the glorious hub caps!! When you paint the front panel, might want to touch up one of the hub caps a bit, the other 3 are fine.
About the WVO kit:We purchased this car (as restauranteurs) to use our old fryer oil so we had the WVO waste veggie oil conversion kit installed professionally. There is a switch on the panel inside to change from diesel to veg oil and it runs great-especially the driving for free not buying gas part!! The veg oil tank is in the spare wheel well in the trunk (the spare tire is in the trunk). We just filtered our fryer oil and filled the tank and off we'd go!We are selling this beauty because all of our fryer oil now goes to a waste oil furnace.
