Description for Mercedes-Benz S-Class 1973
Here we have a very well maintained 1973 Mercedes Benz 450se. This is the only year of the Mercedes W116 to have
the original European styled bumpers, beginning with 1974 and the years preceding, all Mercedes Benzes had
those terribly tacky American safety bumpers. This car was finished in a beautiful shade of blue with a cream
colored interior, the interior is All original and has aged quite well, no rips or tears. This car original carpets and
car mats, has custom dash cover. The zebrano wood is in great condition no broken piece and luster is still present.
The wood grain has a few hairline cracks in it, due to age. This car has a 4.5liter V8 and is an automatic on the
column. This engine has plenty of power and the transmission shifts wonderfully, it has no problems keeping up
with today's traffic, it just does it in better style. All lights work and operate as they should, including the factory
fog lights.(which I replaced with New OEM ones recently). This car has a custom All Alpine stereo system. Top of
the line Alpine single din head unit with Bluetooth for your phone built in, microphone mounted next to rear or
mirror. It has a custom made subwoofer box with a 10inch subwoofer and Alpine Amp, for tasteful bass, nothing
that rumbles the whole neighborhood. I must stress to all the people out there who prefer originality in classic
cars, that even though the stereo system is obviously not original to the car, I did Not cut into anything. The
speakers are original factory size just modern, also the head unit was the same size as factory. (It fit perfectly in)
The subwoofer box is completely removable and is a stand alone box. If you chose to change it back to original, you would have no problem doing so.
I have many receipts from my local Mercedes Benz Dealership for general repairs and mechanical maintenance. Lots of time and money were spent on this car to refresh it a bit.
Here are a few items that need to be replaced sometime in the future.
1) The hood pad needs to be replaced.
2)The rear seat needs a new cushion.
3)The vacuum door locks work but are sluggish.
4) Driver window is slower than the rest of the windows.
