Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1980
For sale is this very well preserved 1980 Mercedes Benz 300SD. This always in California car is in very good condition for being 37 years old. It is a low mileage car (154,000+/-) and is a rust free example. The car boasts mostly original paint. The hood and front fender were, at some point, harvested from another car and placed onto this one and the whole front end repainted in the correct and original color of Walnut Brown. The remaining body, from the front doors back is the original paint. Because it is 37 years old, it has various knicks and scratches all over and it tends to oxidize every 3 or 4 months because the car has been sitting outside for the past few years. Of course, here in sunny California, being outside for a few years isn't the death sentence to an old car that it would be in Detroit, for example. So I merely apply a fresh coat of wax every 4 months and the paint comes gleaming back. The tan or saddle leather interior is also in very good condition with no rips or tears anywhere. Most of these cars came with standard issue MB Tex vinyl, so to see a 300 series diesel with leather is rare. It also came with the upgraded Becker Mexico cassette player which it retains, although the cassette function needs work to play again. The remaining important option that this car has is a power operated sunroof, which is huge in comparison to the sunroof's that are offered on today's cars. The wood is dark and shiny, headliner and door panels in excellent shape, and there is but one small crack on the dash .Tires are good and trunk is clean with no water entry. The car runs superb and is very, very reliable. Quite simply, it needs nothing at this time but diesel to keep going. The car appears to have been in California all of it's life and the low mileage is recorded on a working odometer. The color of Walnut Brown also seems quite rare as it appears to be a one year only color for the 300sd model. Please ask any and all questions prior to submitting an offer. California buyers please note that this car never needs a smog. I will assist with shipping but this remains the buyers responsibility. Car sold as is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied. No paypal deposit and full payment is due within 96 hours of auction close via cash in person or a bank wire transfer. Car is currently registered and tagged through April of 2017 in California. Car may be seen by appointment only in the San Francisco bay area.
