Vehicle Condition

You are bidding on a Mercedes Benz 450 SL1978 in excellent condition inside and out. This Mercedes is without doubt one, if not the best example in the United States.

Title: One owner's California car, originally purchased at Mercedes Benz of Long Beach, California. Clean Title, original California Tiny Pink Slip.

Body: no accidents, no rust, absolutely no dents, dings or scratches!!! Glass in excellent shape.

Paint: hyper glossy rare English paint (Englishroth). Paint looks excellent all around; Vehicle has been repainted with Dupont Chromabase paint and clear coat (label still in the car with paint type & code dated April 2014) then wet sanded and polished. Most of the car was stripped and disassembled when painted.

Exterior: all moldings (chrome and plastic) in very good shape, bumpers and bumper moldings in very good shape (front bumper have 2 small dings done by the screws behind the license plate frame), lights and plastics in very good shape with no fading or cracking.

Chrome:in very good shape inside and out.

Wheels: original alloy wheels in excellent shape structurally and cosmetically. No curb damage. Spare wheel: same type in excellent shape.

Engine: Excellent, Always starts fine, idles smooth, runs smooth and extremely powerful, doesn't burn or take any oil. Absolutely no leaks of any kind! Engine coolant temperature is perfectly normal even if you got caught in traffic. Emissions: car has being passing California smog check successfully over the last 10 years.

Automatic Transmission: Excellent, Shifts smooth and precise, Fluid is Crystal Clear. No noises or weird sounds!!. no leaks!! Recently serviced: Oil, filter, seals and gaskets.

Suspension and Steering: Excellent ride, feel solid and stable even at high speed on the freeway. All suspension components are tight. Alignment was performed when inspected.

Brakes:Excellent condition,Car brakes straight with no vibrations or noises. Almost new rotors and brake pads.

Instruments and Warning lights: All in perfect working condition. All external lights, turn signals, hazard lights, high beams, instrument cluster lights in perfect working condition. Clock is working too!. Speedometer and odometer are working perfectly.

Climate Control: Air conditioning blows ICE COLD and heater works fine.

Interior: Original seats in excellent shape, Velour carpeting in excellent shape, Headliner in excellent shape, dashboard in excellent shape, center console in excellent shape, door panels in perfect shape. Chrome accents in excellent condition. Interior looks like new. This is a non-smoker vehicle! Lighter was never used.

Tires: Michelin tires in four corners with full thread. Spare tire Michelin with 90% thread left.

Tops: Hard top inexcellent condition with glossy paint (chrome moldings in very good shape). Soft top isbrand new (premium canvas type), brown color, clear plastic windows are in excellent shape. Original top removal tool set is included.

Headliners: both inexcellentshape (soft and hard tops).

Power features: All power equipment in perfect working condition: power windows, power locks, power steering. I have not tested the cruise control.

Sound System: Original German Becker works fine, Hirschman power automatic antenna in perfect working condition.

Miscellaneous: Jack and wrench are included. A DVD with complete service & shop repair manual included as well as the Original Owner's manual.

Car History: Car was donated to a Charity Foundation by its owner. Charity privacy policy does not allow us to contact the donor in order to get more info about the car. Included with the vehicle is a folder with copies of invoices for thousands of dollars in new parts and an invoice dated July 2016 with a complete maintenance service at a cost of almost $5000.

Inspection: The car was inspected by a German car's mechanic and he stated that it was a extremely well maintained car, no leaks of any kind.All vacuum lines in perfect shape, almost new distributor cap and wires, new brakes pads and rotors, undercarriage with zero rust, no accident damage and no signs of any repair ever done, shocks in excellent condition. Compression test has been performed with a reading of 118 to 121 psi on all cylinders, exactly what Mercedes considers normal for a healthy engine (21 psi is the permissible difference between individual cylinders). Belts and hoses in very good shape, Timing chain, tensioner and guides look new, antifreeze within specifications. Oil and filter change was performed when inspected. Wheel alignment performed when inspected.

This 40 years old jewel drives excellent, looks nice and needs virtually nothing!!

I describe the vehicle as accurately as possible; however there is no possible way to know everything about a vehicle that has been previously driven subjected to normal wear and tear, both cosmetically and mechanically. Mileage believed to be accurate according the condition of the car, but I cannot certify it (unable to run Carfax report due to vehicle age).
