Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1985
VIN: WDB1230531A270170Time to sell my 1985 Mercedes Benz 280CE. It's a 3 owner car with the original owner (Mrs. Deloris Green) keeping it until her death in August 2014. Her son, David, then sold it to a car dealer in NY (JR Automotive, Hadley, NY) who kept it for 15 months, logging 3,000 miles. I bought it off Bring A Trailer in 11/15 for $11,200. Car has less than 130K miles, but logs roughly 5 miles daily - too fun not to drive!! Mileage IS accurate as reported by CarFax, showing that when the NY dealer bought it, mileage was 119,066.CarFax report also shows "One Minor accident in left front on July 1, 2012". Seems Mrs. Green bumped into another car. It dented the front bumper roughly an inch - pic included. Also, when I bought the car, it came with horrid chrome trim rings - looked pimpish! I removed them and saw why they were added. A little detective work with David Green told me the car was damaged in shipping - seems a tie-down strip slipped and caught under the right front wheel-well, causing a slight 'rip' in the metal. Pic also included. Car was bought by the Green's while they lived in Germany and self imported it around the end of 1986. In March of this year, I was flush with money and took the car to my Benz mechanic (this is my 3rd older one, all 2 doors) in Mobile, Al. - German Auto Haus. I told Pete to fix whatever it needed - can't say that often! He came up with 4 items - all shown in one of the pics. I've logged roughly 2K miles since then. Everything works, every switch, button, A/C, window, roof, etc. It needs only one thing - the old window tint removed and new window tint added. Sadly, there's not a professional window tinter within 65 miles of Jackson, Al. Car has no 'books' and few records - mainly battery and tire purchases from the Green's in the late 1980's and 1990's. No other records exist, sadly. Also, I purchased new Hankook Radials right at 800 miles ago - sales receipt also shown in pics.Car isn't perfect, by any stretch - it has a few small (less than a 1/4 inch) tears in the dash. The medical kit is missing. The rear seats have some stitch rot issues from years of sun. The passenger side map pocket was messed up by someone. The paint is what Bring A Trailer calls a 15 footer - looks perfect from 15 feet, but does have some marks in the paint. Most notable are on the hood, also in pics. Car is a very solid runner - IF needed, I wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere. It gets roughly 23MPG as an average. My son will soon turn 16 and already has a car. I bought a 1992 Bronco several months and my wife drives a Ford, too. I can't see keeping it and letting it sit forever. Plus, insurance on four vehicles is rough!!Selling as an auction - no reserve - high bidder wins. If there's something you'd like to see a pic of, please ask. Buyer responsible for all shipping fees and details.$500 required within 48 hours of auction win, with remainder sent via wire or Bank Check within 10 days. Thanks so much.
