Description for Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 1965

This 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SE is an unmodified, European market, 4-speed manual example which I initially purchased as the basis for a rally car build with a Mercedes V8. The previous owners owned a New Jersey area Mercedes dealer, and owned the car from 1985 through 2016. I ultimately decided that the car was too nice to cut up and modify extensively, and I have since opted to find another donor W111 for my project. This example wears an older repaint, and had a recent service performed by my local mechanic, including new brakes, plugs, suspension rubber components, new tires and fresh fluids. This car is free of rust. I have driven the car about 1,500 km during my ownership, including regular weekend use. The car performs well on the road. This W111 is offered with a clean New Jersey title in the seller's name. The car was repainted in its present gold some time in the 1980s. Correct steel wheels with color-matched hubcaps are fitted, and my mechanic mounted new tires. The headlights have been swapped out in favor of stacked dual-sealed beam US market items, and the taillight lenses are fully red USA versions. The green leather seat covers have been replaced, though the interior appears otherwise unmodified. All of the instruments work correctly, and the speedometer and odometer are in metric units. The heat and all of the lock cylinders on the car also work as they should. The wood dash veneers show some crazing, and the correct Becker radio is still in place. 136k kilometers, or about 84k miles, are shown. Power comes from a 2.2L fuel-injected inline six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. During the service fluids were flushed, new suspension bushings were installed, and a general tune-up was performed. I have driven the car regularly since then, and It runs and drives well, with a smooth engine and transmission shifting.
