Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1991

1991 Mercedes-Benz 300CE, 76k Miles, No-accident, All Original

Beautiful pillarless coupe, 2-owner, southern car with low miles (76k), non-smoker, superb condition for all mechanical, body and interior. Purchased from original owner in Sante Fe (assumed to be a winter car) in 2014, daily driver in Charlotte since. All original throughout; US version, dark blue exterior paint with palomino tan/black/burl wood interior, 2-door, automatic transmission, cruise-control, electronic fuel injection, inline 6 cylinder 3.0L/217 BHP/24 valve engine, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, traction control, telescoping steering wheel, A/C. Runs and drives smooth, refined, confident and understated. Original MSRP was +$60,000.

Features/options include: electric sunroof (w/ tilting mode), windows, seats, passenger mirror, seatbelt presenters and antenna. Cyclops windshield wiper, factory upgraded Bose audio speakers, original Becker AM/FM/cassette head-unit, dual front-airbags, alloy aluminum wheels, and upgraded smoked chrome body trim.

All components work properly and as intended including all gauges. Each gauge's orange needle tip is still bright and looking new. Upholstery and dash are unmarked and in beautiful condition throughout. There's no rebuilt, salvage or flood history. Jack, tools, spare tire, spare fan belt and a replacement owner's manual are intact. In past month; change oil & filter, checked fluids for transmission, power steering and power brakes. Maintenance within past 20k miles includes the matching tires, sparkplugs, belt and brake pads/rotors. Undercarriage was inspected and everything is solid and in good working order. A testament to the engineering and build quality; I have had no mechanical issues other than a window motor replacement and have had no leaks or squeaks with this car for all my 43k miles of use. It's a wonderful car in so many ways.

The car is not considered a museum piece, rather a well preserved, drivable, solid and timeless car. Items that are not perfect; two marks on front grille, mark on front right bumper and rear return of left bumper (see photos), minor clouding of the lower rear window (see photo). Micro-cracks in the wood console between the seats and on door panel, but otherwise the wood is shiny and beautifully preserved. There are several small marks in the paint; I counted 8. Scratches from first owner on lower right side low body trim were buffed-out and touched-up. Also from the original owner, a small brass name plate is on the dashboard; "Lorita”, assumed to be a family gift to the Matriarch. The plate is removable. I liked the story and kept it on the car. It lacks the modern technology such as Bluetooth, a USB port and keyless entry, but this car is 26 years old and was far ahead of its time in 1991.

A pre-purchase inspection is good all-around; I did this and recommend it for any buyer. I'm not a dealer rather have owned a dozen vintage German cars (Porsche, M-B and BMW) and often drive for a year and search for my next special car.....this 300CE is by far the best driving, most enjoyable, dependable and refined car I've owned yet. If you don't buy this car, find another like it. Simply a wonderful car.

The auction winner is required to complete a PayPal payment to me of $1,000 within 48 hours of close of bidding. The balance of the purchase price is due within 7 days of the close of bidding. If needed, I can help with the coordination of shipping. The price is $10,000 firm. I'll keep the car before lowering the price. From my other past car sales, this car will likely be sold using eBay or Craigslist well before the end of the auction. If you're interested in the car, please avoid waiting until next weekend to contact me or bid.Below is a link to additional photos.
