Description for Mercedes-Benz 400-Series 1978
This 1978 Mercedes-Benz SEL 6.9 is a two-owner example with 90k miles from new. The car was repainted in its original Blue Metallic DB-931 in 1996, and have no mechanical issues with its hydropneumatic suspension or 6.9L V8. This 6.9 is offered with all services up to date, and clean PA title. The car was delivered new to Mercedes of Los Angeles in May of 1978, and was sold in June. It stayed with its original owner until 1996, when it was purchased by its second PA-based owner with 57k miles.... The car was repainted in its original color in 1996, which still shows nicely 20 years later. The AMG penta wheels are wrapped with new tires and the car sits evenly on its self-leveling suspension. The third owner was a PA -based Mercedes collector. The car retains its US-market lighting and bumpers, with intact lenses and crack-free plastics. The Tobacco (263) leather interior with saffron carpets has held up well over the years, with light wear on the seating surfaces. The wood veneers appear to show little of the cracking that often affects Mercedes trims. The Becker Mexico stereo was refurbished by Becker Autosound . The SEL had a 100mm longer wheelbase than the SE, with more rear legroom. The original tool kit has been retained in its original cloth bundle. Other equipment still with the car includes the first-aid kit and reflective plastic warning triangle. The M100 6.9L V8 made 250 horsepower and 360 ft. lbs. of torque in US specification when new, enough to propel the 4400-pound sedan to 140 mph. The hood insulation is new .. The car drives well, and the previous owner regularly cruised at triple digit speeds on long, straight PA backroads. This car has spent much of its life in California, and the last years in PA. It is rust free and many underbody photos available upon request Original delivery materials include the manuals and books. A/C has been rebuilt recently and blows cold.
