Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1988
I am selling this car for the owner, a long time customer of Fine Tune Auto in Lansing, Il, my auto repair shop. He bought it from another long time customer of mine, so the repair and maintenance history on this car goes all the way back to 2004 when the original customer was daily driving this vehicle. It was also daily driven by the current owner as well. In this listing I will disclose any and all problems we are aware of since that's just how I always do things . That being said, keep in mind that a lot of vehicles listed here have lots of undisclosed problems, and this one doesn't. Here is a list of the problems it has:AC doesn't work. It needs a new evaporator
Right front coils spring has a crack in it: This causes a noise sometimes while going over bumps. It's only a small section, and the customer drove it like this for over a month with no adverse affect. Of course I wouldn't advise a customer to go ahead and drive a car with broken parts, but in this case, so far, it hasn't caused any problems.
The odometer is broken. I believe it says 200,000 or so.
The engine burns about a quart of oil in 1000 miles or so.
It has a very minor oil leak at the timing cover area. Not even bad enough to drip on the ground though.
The car has a higher than normal idle. This is because of some kind of small vacuum leak in the dash area. Nothing to worry about.
There's a little rust on it. A little.
It has an ABS light o, unknown cause.
The sunroof doesn't open.
Now for the positives:
Over the last 10 years the owners have invested a combined total of over $20,000 in this vehicle, part of which included a new AC compressor and condenser, and also brakes, shocks, etc. Lots and lots of work. Also the engine was replaced along the way with a lower mileage one. The car has tons of power and the trans shifts great. Please call me at 773-416-6740 if you want to do a road test or want any other info, please feel free to call me!! This would be a great daily driver, or a candidate for restoration.
Thanks, and good luck!
