Description for Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 1980
I'm selling my 1980 Mercedes Benz 280TE Euro Wagon with a 4 speed manual transmission. This is a very rare car that was not available n the US. It has the most powerful 6 cylinder engine available in the W123 body cars with a 4 speed manual gearbox. The engine is a Euro spec high compression M110 engine with Bosch CIS fuel injection, making 185hp. The car is quick and can keep up with any traffic on the highway. Transmission is a manual 4 speed transmission. The odometer is showing 253XXX miles. The car runs and drives well, I drive it regularl, 65 miles each way to my hobby shop and back and it does not miss a beat. I've owned this car for 3 years now and it has always behaved well. I would not be concerned about driving it to California tomorrow.
It's a Euro 'taxi' spec car which means that it's very basic on the inside. No A/, no electric windows and a manual sunroof. These in my mind are positives as there is noting to break.
Car runs and shifts smooth but there is noisy bearing in the transmission that you can hear only in first gear. It has never given me a problem. The exhaust rattles a little from mis adjustment and could use a little work. It handles and stops well and is very stable on the road.
Since owning it, I've replaced the clutch, all 4 tires with new Goodyear tires that still have 90% of their tread and all the fluids (gearbox, engine and diff). I bought the car from Oregon with a salvage title which it got from the hood not being latched and bending back to smash the windshield. All I did is replace the windshield and the hood hinges to fix the car and have driven it since. It has an MP3 bluetooth Alpine Radio.
As you will see in the pictures, it is a 38 year old car and does have blister, blemishes an areas that may need attention. It is however a very nice car that can be driven daily as is. The only area if rust that needs addressing is the inner fender section where the hing mounts. This is a common problem area where leaves build up and can cause rust. I have shown this in the video where a link is provided below,
The car is rust free and has a blue Texas rebuilt title in my name.

I truly love this car and hate to sell it. I own several AMG cars and this car gets more attention than any of my other cars. Unfortunately I have too many cars, most of which are projects and this is a runner and driver so it's being sold first.
I have tried to describe in pictures and videos to the best of my ability the condition of this car. As it is a 38 year old car and there is some wear, tear and damage and the car should be considered as normal for a car of its age and therefore I am selling it in as is condition with all sales being final.
Local pick up is fin, I will work with out of state buyers in assisting with loading should you wish to hire a transport company to ship it to you.
I do file with Ebay in order to recover listing fees for not paying bidders.
Happy bidding and please check out my other items.
