Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1983
This is a beautiful 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel Sedan on the 126 Chassis. My family is the second owner of this car and it has been in our family since 1995. We bought the vehicle from the original owners who live in our town. It was hand picked by the original owners who traveled to the Mercedes-Benz factory in Stuttgart Germany. It was their Sunday driver for more than 10 years before we purchased it to be the family sedan in 1995. It was my father's daily driver until 2006. It has remained garage kept from that point on with limited driving. It is a desirable car for collectors with the reliable 5 cylinder engine or to anyone else who would like to drive an affordable Mercedes with the stately lines of the 300 series. There are two small rust spots on the driver's side door and one small area on the trunk lid by the chrome trim and Mercedes emblem (See Pictures). The spots have not rusted through and can be repaired by a body shop or by someone who is knowledgeable in the field. Inside the vehicle there are a few rips in the vinyl where the shoulder strap seat belts attach to the door jam cross members. There is an unfortunate crack in the vinyl dash on the passenger side and there is a small piece of the wood trim that has become unglued by the AC vent on the passenger side. These defects are mainly cosmetic and can certainly be fixed. or at least tolerated. The rest of the interior is in very good shape which is evident in the pictures provided. There are no rips or tears in the seats. the headliner has no sagging. and the carpet has no stains and is in great shape. The engine runs very well when it is being driven but runs slightly rough when idling. It does not need new injectors. just a tune up and new fuel as it has sat for some time in the garage. It could be as simple as adjusting the idler. It does need a new muffler. The transmission has a slip from 2nd gear to 3rd gear that has been apparent since we bought the car 20 years ago. It has all new brakes. rotors. wheel bearings. water pump. clutch fan. thermostat. fuel filters. and a fresh oil change. There are no dents. just some minor scratches that can be buffed out. There is no rust underneath. and the the protective body undercoating is still intact. There is a full size spare with full size original rim. The headlights were replaced with European style headlights shortly after the vehicle was purchased. The power windows. power seats. and power sunroof all work fine. The pictures can say the rest. The car is beautiful and in great shape. and will be a good purchase for someone looking to drive a classic. If I had the garage space I would gladly keep it. Please email me with any additional questions about the car or if you would like to see more pictures. I have plenty. Good luck bidding on this beauty.
