Description for Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 1969
Up for sale is a beautiful 1969 Mercedes Benz 280 SL roadster. USA version. Rare and desirable 4- speed manual transmission with dealer installed Frigiking A/C (functional) and power steering. This car is a superb high-level vehicle that is a delight to drive. Extensive restoration of an excellent base vehicle (no hit/accidents). The list includes: extensive interior restoration including seat covers/padding/carpets/chrome/glass/ gaskets/radio (original Becker Europa II stereo restored by Becker USA) and clock (original restored by Palo Alto Speedometer in California)/door sills/sunvisors. All service performed by local expert MB service facility. Over $25. 00 invested since my purchase 4 years ago. New tires(Michelin) on original MB wheels/covers (no ugly/incorrect alloy rims) with fresh spare on original rim. New Bilstein shocks. exhaust tip (system itself original/excellent). New brake pads. Original sheetmetal. Paint is original factory color Dark Blue repainted approximately 5 years ago. Very good quality but not show- excellent driver level. Engine is original. Runs beautifully and had recently received valve guide service. Compression excellent. Detailing of engine compartment includes powder coating of cylinder heads and exhaust headers/expansion tank painting. New battery. Just had brand new (not rebuilt) A/C compressor/bushing service that provides for functional and effective air conditioning. Shifting/clutch action is excellent. New brake/gas/clutch pedal covers. New trunk floor (area of notorious rust problem) with factory piece. Has factory jack but not tool roll. New top (matching blue Haartz). Softtop frame excellent. Has factory hardtop in good condition (does have several nicks in chrome trim). Never on car as long as I have owned it. Not sure why somebody would want to put it on as this car is meant to be enjoyed as a convertible. I am probably forgetting a few other items. This is a superb vehicle that is meant to be enjoyed. No trailer/show queen but in need of nothing except a new owner. I have put approximately 1500 miles on the car since I bought it. I am moving on to another project (Porsche 911 SC) and need the space in my garage to pursue this- thus the sale. There are not many out there like this one. It can be used regularly without worry and likely will continue to appreciate in value. Last of the handbuilt MB vehicles and the best iteration of the Pagoda series. PLEASE- serious inquiries only. No trades. PayPal accepted for deposit only. Wire transfer or suitable alternative of balance required; verification of funds will be made before vehicle is shipped. I will assist in shipping; all shipping fees to be paid by buyer. Car can be personally inspected if in the Central Florida region with prior arrangement. Questions? Please ask. Thank you.
