Description for Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 1975

NO RESERVE - This car is currently tagged, insured and driven just as it is. That said, one should keep in mind, that it is a 44 year old car and was purchased by me as a restoration project. I bought this 1975 Mercedes Benz 450SLC because it was advertised as a running 67K mile car. I was not given any documents with the car to support that claim. It now shows 68,085 and that is where the odometer stopped working. So, the actual miles at this point are unknown and is being sold as unknown. Regardless, it is in my opinion, a great candidate for a complete restoration.
More recently, I have come to realize that at my age and given the life changes I'm experiencing, I have too many projects and not enough time for them all. This car is in Southeast Kansas but came from the Reno NV area about 2-3 years ago. To the best of my knowledge, all of the metal is solid in all areas of the car. There are no rust holes that I have found. It is possible that I missed something though. My eyesight isn't what it used to be.
By what I can tell it has had an older, professionally done, body restoration. Over time, the skin coat began to crack and some of it peeled. I put primer on these areas to protect the bare metal. This 450SLC always starts and runs, however it does have a slight miss. Date of last tune-up is unknown. The transmission shifts okay when driven regularly, However if it sets for some time, it takes awhile to go into reverse. Last fluid and filter change is unknown. The power steering pump also works but growls after sitting for awhile. The heater and A/C work but the blower motor is weak. Could be the switch, a ground or the motor itself? There are no cracks in any of the glass. The tires have good tread but they are old and weather checked. It has very nice wheels. It drives but has a shimmy at certain speeds. Cause unknown but could be tire related. The brakes work but also have a shimmy if apply harshly at highway speeds. Cause unknown. Could be front right front brake rotor. The front windows roll up and down but are slow. The sunroof also worked when I got it. However, as I was cleaning the car out to do this listing, I had the engine running and bumped the switch with my hand. It opened about an inch and wouldn't close. I did find a burnt fuse but didn't have one to replace it at the time. It was also beginning to rain so, I covered the sunroof with a piece of 3M car wrap film to keep it dry inside.
I have listed what I know about the car. It is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. A great start for a restoration project. Questions and inspections are welcome prior to the auction's end. The car is also for sale locally. Seller reserves the right to end auction early.
