Description for Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 1978
Beautiful 1978 Mercedes 250 Long Wheel Base, originally built as a taxi or airport service limo, and ultra rare to find with a gasoline engine. The long models featured a wheelbase 24.8" longer than the standard W123 sedan and came standard with a hydraulic self-leveling rear suspension.Odometer shows 119K miles, although I cannot guarantee the miles as I am not the original owner. The black exterior has been repainted and could use some attention as the clear coat has faded in spots, particularly on the trunk and hood. It has all the original emblems and Mercedes hood ornament. There is some rust spots under the bumpers and on the muffler as well, however, it's a very solid car overall.15" steel wheels wear color-matched covers and are mounted with Michelin tires. A spare tire is also included in the trunk as seen in the photos. Some of the rubber window seals are cracked and chipped off, they could be replaced if you want to make the car perfect. A chrome trim strip is missing from the rear passenger door.
The interior is trimmed in olive green with matching loop carpet. The interior features a standard LWB setup: standard W123 rear seat with 60/40 folding jump seats, room for 8.Factory options include a column-shifter, air conditioning, crank windows, central locking, and original radio. The dash is original and cracked as seen in the photos. The interior is in nice condition with some fade on the factory door panels.
The car's 2.5 liter M123 straight-six appears to be bone stock, which should equate to 140 HP and 145 lb. ft. of torque. It does idle a bit higher so a tune up is in order. The brakes do work, however, they need to be replaced as your foot goes all the way to the floor. I would recommend towing the car rather than driving it upon pickup.
