Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1985
Here you have found my gorgeous 1985 Mercedes 300CD turbo diesel coupe. From 1978 to 1985 Mercedes only made 8007 of these wonderful cars and they only sold them from 1982 -1985 with the turbo engine. The W123 series has always had a reputation for being extremely reliable, extremely safe and the economical turbo diesel was the best of the best. These cars are routinely seen with half a million miles or more and still running great! At under 166k miles, this beauty has only seen about 4,852 miles a year and is barely broken in! This particular example was finished in "Cabernet Red Metallic" ( MB color code 587) with a beautiful beige leather interior. In my opinion this is the most elegant color combination for this car and my personal favorite. The paint looks mostly original and there are NO accidents on the carfax. This car looks like it was garaged most, if not all, of it's life and shows very well with only minor rock chips or small scratches from 34 years of pampered use. The chrome is in excellent condition as well and makes for a gorgeous contrast to the dark rich paint color. The interior is in wonderful condition as well, as the multitude of pictures will show. The carpets are clean and there are no rips or tears in the seats. Even the wood-accents are in great shape and still shine. The door panels and the headliner are good as well. This car is gorgeous and it really stands out. These 5 cylinder turbo diesel engines were the most durable Mercedes ever built and this 300CD always starts up right away and has plenty of power. The transmission shifts very smooth through all the gears and it is a pleasure to drive in town and long distance. If you keep taking care of this car like it has been, there is no reason it should not last you forever. All the windows and the power door locks are working properly, so does the sunroof! I would not hesitate taking it on a long distance trip tomorrow. There are many more detailed pictures downloaded below. Please look at them carefully, as they can describe this car better than I can. I would prefer to sell this Mercedes locally to somebody who could actually come by and see it but I would also be willing to help with shipping arrangements for any out of town winning bidders. Please have your funding in order and do all your 'due diligence" BEFORE placing a bid. If you have any questions, please send me a note through Ebay and I will get back to you quickly and honestly. This is a wonderful 34 year old classic Mercedes and whoever buys this car will not be disappointed. Thank you for looking at my auction! I am looking forward to an easy and pleasant transaction. A little more information and public answers to some questions that were asked:
In addition to the trunk of included parts pictured above, I have the manuals, touch up paint, and many receipts for service over the years but not a complete service history binder. The car also comes with 5 keys!
I have also come into possession of a complete set of body color matched hubcaps if the buyer ever wanted to revert back to 14" steelies. I think the car would look amazing on these hard to find caps with some white wall tires, but I'll leave that up to the buyer.
Answering some of the questions asked... the car cold starts perfect every time with just one glow cycle and finds idle right away. There is also a test for these engines to see if there is any excessive blow-by caused by cylinder wall break down/low cylinder compression. You loosen the oil cap while the car is idling and if the cap "dances" or blows off, its an indication of these issues. That very test on this car shows a cap that remains perfectly still. Exactly what you want to see meaning virtually no blow-by! Additionally, the AC and heat both work perfectly, as well as the vacuum driven power antenna. I believe this is one of the best, if not the best W123 turbo diesel coupe for sale anywhere at this time.
