Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1986
1986 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL turbo diesel for sale. Classic car in good shape. Does have a few things that need attention but overall a great car. I bought this car with the intentions of restoring it a little but now I am unable. due to to a cross-country move. My loss is your gain. These cars are known for their bulletproof reliability and that's why I purchased this one. It has a 3. 0 liter. inline 6 cylinder. turbo diesel engine. The odometer has 228. 27 miles showing but it is no longer operating. The owner before me estimated the mileage. when I bought it. to be around 230k. I have only driven it around 4k miles since I've had it. The title reflects the inoperable odometer. These engines are good for at least 500k miles before needing an overhaul and this one is no exception. It runs great. Little to no blow-by and has really good power. I just drove it round trip to Oklahoma. cruising at 75mph. with no issues . The interior on this car is awesome. It has leather seats and all of them are in good shape. no tears. just slight wear on the driver's seat. Carpet. headliner. wood trim and everything else in near perfect condition. The dash does have 3 or 4 small cracks. about 1-2 inches in length. I searched across the country before I bought this one and I couldn't find one with this good of an interior that wasn't over $10k. All electrical and vacuum switches work (windows. door locks. sunroof. etc. ). There is an aftermarket CD player intalled. As far as things that need attention. the hood has both corners bent up. The previous owner drove with the hood unlatched. I've included pictures of those. The transmission has a slow leak of fluid. I would estimate it. at most. it would be a quart a month or less. The leak does decrease when driven daily because the seals remain expanded. It is probably the main seal and would be approximately a $800 fix at a transmission shop. It may need attention eventually. The transmission itself seems to shift and function as it should. I have also seen a drip of engine oil occasionally but nothing more than that. Also. the climate control system is not functioning properly. There is no heat or air conditioning. I haven't had time to dig into to it to find out what exactly is wrong. Probably the heat issue is the monovalve according to most forum posts. The paint is dull and needs a good buff I imagine. Another issue is that the car has a pull to the left. It could be tires or alignment. The tires are in need of replacing but have a few thousand miles left. The main engine belt has a little flop to it and I think the belt tensioner needs replaced. I believe those are the few things that are wrong with the car. Buyer is required to make $500 deposit within 24 hours of the auction ending. Can be made via PayPal. cash. or cashiers check. Full payment and pickup will be due no later than 7 days of auction's end. If you have any specific questions please let me know. This is my baby and I am really sad to let it go but I know someone will enjoy it as much as I have. Please email with questions or contact information. Thanks.
