Description for Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 1980

Up for your consideration this loved and well-cared for 1980 Mercedes 280 CE. This is a very rare gas model and not many running around anymore. I purchased this car more than two years ago on eBay and so far I have spent more than $11k on restoring it. I put a lot of time. sweat. and love into this car and now it is time to let go and let someone else continue with the fun. I’m going to list some of the works. but rests assure that I will forget some more repairs. The following repairs and restoration transpired over the past two years since I had owned it: Exterior:This car had a new silver paint job to match the original color. The two front doors panels had a little bit of rust at the bottom. it is so common to have this in these cars. So I bought a completely rust free two doors from sunny California and had them installed. In addition. I just replaced the front windshield rubber gasket with OEM and had it shipped to me from Germany. The car has two front tires with less than 100 miles on them. I just replaced the headlights with new European look square headlights which made the car looks even more stunning. The hood lining was recently replaced and the rear driver side linning in the trunk was recently replaced as well. Interior:The interior was completely reconditioned and rear reclining seat was professionally reupholstered. as well as the driver's arm rest. All the wood trim was completely replaced by used OEM wood trim. The shifting gear was replaced with a more attractive wood knob. The steering wheel was replaced with an Italian and more sleek steering wheel. The dash board had some crakes so I had it professionally covered with a cap then it was professionally dyed to completely match the original dash color. The floor mates were completely replaced by OEM floor mats. I installed a new Pioneer CD stereo with USB/ IPhone/IPod connections and new speakers. The rear panel that holds the back speakers was completely replaced by a new one. Mechanics:The car had new battery and alternator. In addition. I just replaced the front and rear shocks. front arm controls. and back sway bar. Moreover. a new fuel pump was put in. new rear brake line. the brakes pads and rotors were replaced by previous owner just before I bought it. I also had new tune up with new spark plugs and spark plugs wires. new filters. The oil always replaced with synthetic oil. Two new front tires with less than 100 miles on them. The car runs. drives. shifts. very smooth and without any hesitations and like a champ. very fast on the high and you would not believe the way this car handles. You will not believe that this is a 35 years old stunner. As stated before I had invested more than $11k. I have loved this car. but now I have no more time to spend on itThere are few things that this car will need A/C expansion valve will need to be replaced and it is sold on eBay for $21. the A/C blows but not cold; my mechanic told me that the expansion valve is bad. The back tires will need to be replaced eventually; the side rubber seals on back coupe windows could be changed. The sunroof works and I can hear the motor but it is not latching on. The passenger and left back coupe window are controlled by one fuse. for some reason this fuse keeps blowing. The CD player stopped working. I looked into it and I was told that this happened due to a bad job installing the CD player. Instead of wiring the CD player to the radio hot wire. it was wired to the first hot wire which belonged to the power window; this is why the fuse keeps blowing. Furthermore. there is a very tiny oil spot was noted in my garage. It looks like it is coming from either the oil pan. or may be the oil filter was improbably installed. In addition. the back windshield has some discoloration as you see in the photos. This is common in these cars though. Moreover. there are two small bubbling in the paint; one is the size of dime on the sunroof. the other one is the size of a nickel on the left rear side of the back windshield. also there is a small dent on the rear side of the hood that had been repainted. This small bend has been fixed and it was due to me driving the car while the hood was open. Finally. there is very small leak in the exhaust and the odometer rolls but slowly. I drove it for 5 miles and it only rolled 2 miles. This happens due to the plastic gear in the odometer gets worn out with time. You can buy it on EBay for around $10-$20. Final note. remember that this is a 35 year old car and it needs a little bit of work to make it perfect. It is a stunner and a head turner everywhere you go. Book value for these cars ranges from $12000- $15000 and be assure that it will keep on increasing in value in the future. so this is not a bad investment. If you are serious. I would advise to have a mechanic inspect it. However. arrange for inspection before the auction ends. If you request a post-sale inspection. your request will be denied. Again. if you are expecting or anticipating a new car condition. this car is not for you. This is a 35 year old so expect some imperfections here and there. I have tried to describe it to the best of my ability. I have a perfect feedback and I would like to keep it this way. This car is sold AS IS. I have placed the reserve very low and way below cost Serious buyers only please and remember your bid is a legal contract
