Description for Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 1973
For sale is my 1973 280 SEL 4.5. I have owned this for almost 3 years and I am selling because we are still rebuilding from the Dayton Ohio tornado and we have a third baby on the way, there is little to no time to love this like it should and drive it as much as I wanted to. It has a brand new carpet kit installed and the original leather is in amazing condition. The only problem is a 2-3 in rip on the driver's seat skirt. (pictured) I would drive this to and from work on nice days 20 min one way, it would get above temp so I had the radiator professionally cleaned and that dropped the temp down considerably. The driver's side window regulator was replaced and all windows operate. The original becker radio is not working or is the original hirschmann antenna. I have removed the antenna and put a power antenna in as a place holder and it is lowered for the car cover. The fuel tank was rusty so I cleaned it then applied POR-15 gas tank sealer. The AC is converted to 134, the heater box needs serviced (o-ring job, if you're familiar with w108s). The windshield has new rubber and as pictured, has a wiper streak. The trim across the car is in good shape with a few small dents here and there. The passenger front quarter trim was bent when the car tarp snagged on it during a windstorm and could use some attention. All gauges and the clock work but the speedometer cable was removed to jump the potentiometer, at that point the transmissionpinchbolt section broke. I have it but need a two-post lift to properly repair it, it does friction fit but will need serviced. The brakes are perfect and the tires are in great shape minus the spare in the trunk. The trunk has a new liner and in the picture(s) you can see the manuals and some of the wood that I was refinishing. I have every piece of wood in various states of refinishing, its all there. Two keys and two FOBs will come with it, yes I put electric locks on all four doors. Could use a new battery but if it doesn't sell before the turn of the year I will likely address that myself. If you have any questions please feel free to message me. The car is located in Dayton Ohio. If you're looking for a solid drivers quality w108 with the length and rarity of the L designation, I hope this will be yours. I love these cars, but at this stage of my life, there is just too much going on and its time to move on. I can help a carrier load the car upon payment but will not schedule any shipping. |
