1985 was the last year Mercedes built the wonderful W123 series 2 door coupe. They made them from 1978-1985 and only the last 4 years added the turbo charger. Only 8007 of the coupes were built and there are just not that many left in this condition.This car was always babied and it shows. It was finished in Nautical Blue metallic (Mercedes Benz color code 929) with Palomino color leather interior.
Several years ago the clear coat on the roof, hood and trunk showed some wear. So the whole car was taken apart, professionally painted with the proper 2 stage paint in the same color and put back together. I still have the receipts for $6300,- just for the paint job. There is none and there never has been any rust on this car. It has never been in any accidents, there are no dings or dents and the paint looks amazing. It still shines like on a new car.
The interior looks very clean as well. There are no rips or tears in the seats and the leather still feels soft. Door panels and headliner are in great condition. The carpets are clean and even the wood accents are still shiny and in good shape. The Palomino color interior is a wonderful contrast to the dark blue exterior.
This car has always been maintained very well and i have lots of service records with it. It always starts up right away, has plenty of power and shifts smoothly through all the gears. Everything on it works as intended, including cold air-conditioning and climate control.All the windows work going down all the way front and back. The sunroof, door locks and all the gauges function properly and i can not think of anything it needs. The last service was done less than 500 miles ago and i would not hesitate driving it across country on short notice.
This would be a great car for any classic car collection. You just do not see them that clean and taken care off anymore and with the low production numbers it should only go up in value from here on out. It would also be a wonderful car for anybody who would want to drive it every day. There are not many classic cars as reliable as a Mercedes diesel. With the same care and maintenanc, there is no reason this car should not drive another 500k miles.
I would prefer to sell this car locally to somebody who could come out and see it. But i would also be helpful with shipping arrangements for any out of town winning bidders. Please do have your funding in order and do all your "due diligence" BEFORE placing a bid. This is a wonderful and rare classic Mercedes and it will be sold WITHOUT a warranty. It comes with a clear CA title, current registration, a clean Carfax, all the books and records and 2 keys.
