Description for Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 1983
1983 Mercedes Benz 380 SL Convertible - 36. 43 CarFax Documented Two Owner MilesAbsolutely no rust!Timing chain was replaced. Body is clean and straight. A minor discoloration on hard top driver side lower rear. Interior is also excellent with minor wear and dashboard cracks. Car was sitting since '08. Runs great. but needs to be driven with a tank full of hi-test gas. I siphoned the old fuel out and put 5 gallons of fresh gas in it. (I actually put the 10 gallons I siphoned off in my "99 Mercury Marquis - it's running great. )Tires and brakes are excellent. Easily passed NY State inspection. The car needs to warm up before being driven. It may need a "cold start valve". When I mentioned it to my mechanic. his response was. "what's a cold start valve and where can I find it?". Obviously my mechanic does not speak "old Mercedes". When warmed up. it has a strong motor and tranny. No leaks. misfire. smoking or slippage. This is a nice low mileage car. The owner passed away at 90 years old and I purchased the car from his widow. She doesn't have any idea what the soft top looks like. and neither do I. This car was his baby and he has owned it since 1990. I can only assume the top is in in good to excellent condition. We can pull the hard top. if you like. when you come to see the car. The car is black and the hard top is charcoal gray. On 3/31/87 the CarFax shows this vehicle was declared a total loss by an insurance company. This was in 1987. the car has been running and driving fine since then. I had the car in the air and along with "no rust" I also did not see any frame damage or any worn or bent parts. Any questions call 516-228-1016 and leave a message if I’m not in. Please don’t wait until the last day or last few hours to contact me. Please speak clearly.
