Euro Model This spectacular 1971 280SL was special ordered from the factory by an American Army Major station in Europe. The vehicle received some very interesting options on delivery. not the least of which is the special order Grey Blue Metallic paint (906) and the 4-speed manual transmission. The same gentleman then returned to the United States in 1986. and of course brought his prized Mercedes-Benz along with him. He continued to enjoy this car at his home in California for many years until finally selling it to a new owner in Long Island. NY. Since that time the car has had just two additional stewards. both of whom were Pagoda aficionados. The car is fitted with its original high horsepower Euro engine (185HP) with no additional emission controls. The car has European bumpers. chrome. door panels. and tail lights. but was converted to U. S. headlights during import. The interior is new with fresh Bamboo Leather as per the factory color scheme. The car has had careful maintenance including a recent head rebuild. We can attest that this is one of the peppiest and most spirited 280SLs that we have ever driventruly deserving of the Sports Leicht title.
