Description for Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 1979
This is a really nice. straight. rust free w123 wagon chassis. Mileage UNKNOWN since there is no odometer. California title in hand. IT IS A PROJECT. and you will need to gather some parts to get this to become a driving vehicle. It does not have a drivetrain (i. e. no engine. no transmission or driveshaft) and has no exhaust and no front bumper. The beauty of this is that you start from a pretty clean slate and can actually create your own dream wagon. Put in any drivetrain combination that you wish. Though it's designed for a diesel. I've even seen a V8 engine inside one of these. You could even convert it to manual transmission . The main value in this wagon is the fact that it's been a southern california car and appears to me to be rust free (or very nearly so). I am very familiar with these vehicles but could not find any rust anywhere on the chassis. especially in common areas that are seen in vehicles in parts of the country where it rains. This is one of the main reasons that I acquired it in the first place because I did not want to deal with rust. I don't say 100% rust free because there may be some very small spot somewhere on the car I did not see. but I looked it over pretty good and didn't see any. I say 99% rust free because I cannot possibly go through every single area or take every piece of trim or rubber off so if there's a small spot somewhere on the vehicle. then forgive me for I am human :-)The interior looks to me to be nearly complete and in excellent shape other than the dashboard. which is cracked from the California sun. I have not gone through every single item due to time constraints. On the surface. I see that both power window switches and the odometer are missing so mileage on the chassis is UNKNOWN. Local buyers are welcome to come and inspect. Non-local buyers are welcome to have any mechanic come by to inspect. I originally purchased this as a project but simply have not had the time to get to it. No drivetrain (no engine. no transmission. no driveshaft. no exhaust. no front bumper). Interior is palomino in nice shape (no rips or tears in the seats. excellent seat springs on both seats. Dashboard is cracked from the hot California sun. Paint appears to be original on the car from what I can tell and there is no noticeable bodywork except for the driver door has some botched up body work. so I wound up buying another door for it but never got to putting it in. Will include a good black driver door in the sale. Small indentation in rear hatch (could be pulled out by paintless dent removal. Other than that. the vehicle is pretty darn straight. Only saw a couple of the rubber trim pieces that go in the center of the car missing (on front fender and front driver door). This wagon came standard without a third row seat or sunroof. so less moving parts to worry about. For local buyer. bring your own wheels/tires to tow it. I can suggest an inexpensive local flatbed tow company (way cheaper than AAA). Payment: postal money order or cash upon pickup only. no paypal. Payment held until clears. vehicle will not released until payment clears. I must receive payment in full within 5 days from the auction's end and the vehicle must be towed away within no later than 5 days after payment clears. after which time a $20 per day storage fee is added to total cost before vehicle is released.
