Description for Mercury Colony Park 1966

Original, nmolested, wo owner Texas car-- the true definition of "survivor" .

Only 45,000 miles-- Starts and drives perfectly-- always maintained, erviced and garage kept.

I am the second owner of this car, aving purchased it in 1992, he car has spent its entire life in the Texas Hill Country. With the exception of very minor surface rust (as seen in photos) it is a rust free car. It has not been restored so there are no worries of damage or rust being covered up. The wagon is a 9 passenger with a folding rear seat and two way rear gate/door. The motor is a rare factory "stroker"motor option only available for two years (FE Marauder: 410cid 4bl - 330hp/ 444torque). With this motor option came the upgraded C6 transmission (Multi-Drive Merc-O-Matic). It was further optioned with the upgraded spinner hubcaps (complete matching second set comes with the car), nd an AM/FM radio (functioning perfectly). It has factory A/C which is fully original and intact-- the compressor is free but will only hold a charge for a few months. Because I do not drive the car in extreme heat or cold I have not kept it charged nor have I attempted to have the leak resolved (opting to simply keep it original).

The car is currently insured through Hagerty who appraised its replacement value at $23,000.

Some of the photos come from its recent use in a film documentary of the 60s.

A brief history of this particular model: In 1965, olony Park was promoted to "the Lincoln Continental of station wagons", hen it was given the Lincoln Continental's suspension package. It continued to enjoy this distinction through its final year.

The 1966 Colony Park was fitted with Ford's two-way "Magic Doorgate", hich was designed to fold down like a conventional tailgate and also swing sideways like a door. Mercury also introduced a feature where windflow was directed across the rear window through channels integrated and covered with the "D" pillar. This also allowed fresh air to enter into the rear of the vehicle if the rear window was retracted into the tailgate.

On third-generation Colony Parks, he standard engine was a 390cuin (6.4L) FE V8 with 270 horsepower. From 1966 to 1967, he 410cuin (6.7L) FE "Marauder" V8 with 330 horsepower was an option.
