Description for Mercury Grand Marquis 1985

Beautiful and all original 1985 mercury Grand marquis colony park wagon. A true woodgrain survivor! Still wearing the CA blue and yellow plates. I purchased this car from the original owners who were a very nice elderly couple in their 80's who purchased the car brand new in 85'. The car had only 49,650 miles at the time i purchased it, ow has 51,063 miles, nd was confirmed by the previous owners to be accurate and had not rolled over. Car is equipped with power windows, hich all go up and down smooth and fast, ower locks, ruise control (works) A/C (not currently blowing cold), xterior lighting package, ual action rear tailgate, .0 fuel injected V8, OD transmission, M/FM cassette (works great, nd still plays your favorite tapes!). When i got the car it had been sitting about a year, ll it needed was to have the battery recharged and it sprang back to life instantly and ran perfect. Mechanically the car was already very sound, ut of course needed a bit of going through after sitting. Oil and filter were changed as well as a full tune up, adiator flush, ront end greased, uel filter, alve cover gaskets and a few bottles of fuel system cleaner. Suspension is tight and noise free, nd with KYB gas shocks all around has a very nice and solid, et extremely comfortable ride as one would expect from a big family cruiser like this. Tires are in great shape and spare rim has a new tire mounted on it. The AOD transmission shifts smoothly and overdrive engages without any harshness. The 302 runs excellent, o odd noises, moke, unny smells, verheating, othing. Car runs down the road straight and smooth, teering is tight and feather light, nd the brakes work as they should, o pulling or grinding. Pedal is firm, o sponge here. Exterior is in very nice shape after I spent many hours buffing and polishing the factory paint back to life, s it was a bit faded from sitting in the sun. Underneath the fade was a stunning shade of burgundy which came back to a glorious shine. The body is straight and accident free, lthough there are a few very minor door dings, othing serious at all. The woodgrain overall is in really good shape, it of fading on the tops of the doors and by the gas door, nd some weather checking here and there, t has character but is in no way trashed. All exterior aluminum trim is intact as well as the woodgrain inserts, o missing or mangled pieces at all. The interior is astonishingly clean, nd looks almost as new. All door panels are excellent ( bit of sun fading on the wood inserts on front doors), s well as front and rear seats and jumper seats. Carpet is clean and plush. Front split bench is power on the drivers side and all positions work. Headliner is excellent, as a slight bow in the very back which is common in these wagons, ut the material is not sagging whatsoever. The dash was sunburned, ut i had a perfect fitting cover fitted to it and it looks great. The cargo area plastics were a bit faded, o i removed them all and had them sprayed with a high quality plastic paint. The results were very pleasing and the color is a very close match to the original, lthough I feel my pictures make it look lighter then it really is, ts more of a rich burgundy color. The only blemishes I can point out on the car is it has a rust hole by the antennae, nd a spot in the passenger door jamb that is just superficial, oth easily repairable. This is not a rusty car though, verywhere else is rock solid, s I went over the car with a fine toothed comb. The tailgate window also recently stopped moving, otor still good, nd window is in the up position. I'm 99.99% positive it needs the plastic regulator gear, out a 13 dollar part. This is a very lovely wagon, nd just about everything works (down to the clock), ump right in and take the whole family wherever you want to go! I try to be as descriptive as possible, ut please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, appy to answer them all. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
