Description for Mercury Zephyr 1980
I have an absolutely amazing Mercury Zephyr Z7 sport coupe for sale. I purchased this car from the original owner a couple of years ago with just over 50K documented miles. I have all paperwork including the originalbill of sale and window sticker. This is a rust free Texas car that has been garage kept its whole life. I have receipts for the majority of the parts and labor invested to transform the carinto aMustang 5.0L. The car starts every time and drives great. With the exception of the AC (all there never touched or troubleshot) everything works, adio, eat, tereoand even the Cruise Control! The interior of this car is in amazing condition and is very close to mint. Overall the car could be mistaken for only beinga fewyears old. Currently the car has the factory 2.3L and 3 speed auto however it will come with a complete 5.0L EFI engine, 5 transmission and majority of the partsneeded for the swap. The K member is the same for V8 and 4 cylinder cars making the engine swap a bolt in exercise. This has been a father son project for the past couple of years. We have spent a great deal of time and money totransform this car into a Mustang in sheep's clothing.We have replaced everysteering, uspension and brake component with either factory Mustang parts or aftermarket upgrades. We just recentlyswapped out the 7.5" rear endand replaced it with a fully built 8.8"rear end. Gear Heads Performance completely rebuilt the 8.8 rear end with 3.55 gears, ord Posi-traction, 1 spline axles and a Shelby Cobra rear differential cover (have receipts). They also welded in a set of custom sub-frame connectors. Our goal has been to convert this car to 87+ 5.0L Mustang specifications and create a great sleeper car. We have spared no expense in building this car.The car handles and stops like a Mustang should all it needs is the drivetrain to match.I had the Drivers side fender restored (have receipts)as we were getting the car setup for a complete paint job over the winter before swapping the drivetrain.We are only selling the car as we found a classic Mustang at a price we could not pass up on.This is an amazing car and gets lots of attention. All the hard parts are there to complete the EFI 5.0L and T5 conversion. With the drivetrain swap this would be an absolute blast to drive and would definitely standout in a crowd.
