Description for Mercury Grand Marquis 1991
1991 Mercury Grand Marquis GS (Last model year of the first generation “box cars”) 4 door. black with tan interior. 80. 00 miles (see notes). Completely stock. /p> 5. 0 Windsor V8 engine 4 speed AOD automatic transmission Power windows Power locksValid NJ Inspection. Electric trunk release Cruise control A/C does not work -- does not blow cold. No radio (opening ready for single DIN size unit). OK tread on four matching Cooper tires. New-looking “donut” spare in trunk. Missing two hubcaps. I’ve gotten them in the past from Hubcap Joe in Oradell. NJ (www. hubcapjoe. com). These appear to be from a 1992 model. Starts right up. runs strong. good brakes. Needs a tune up. Idle and low RPMs are sometimes bumpy. but it loves to run fast and strong. Interior is clean for its age. No odors. doesn’t appear to have been smoked in. Paint is pretty scratched and dinged up but all body panels are straight and strong. nbsp; No indications of collisions or body repairs. Some lower panel rust. Both front door windows will stick sometimes. usually in cold weather. They go down and won’t come back up. I usually smack the inside door panel with my leg and it starts moving again. But it has left me in a bind not coming back up once or twice. Driver’s door window motor is new but that didn’t solve the problem. Count on the door locks freezing when it is cold enough. I just leave it unlocked in the winter and lock the glove box. The lock connecting rod inside the driver’s door armrest was broken when I got it and had been glued to the slider instead of using the proper removable clip. which makes the armrest lock-and-switch panel. and therefore the entire door panel. difficult to remove. I bought this last December from the original owner. it had about 62. 00 original miles on it. Shortly after I got it the main odometer stopped working and I have been tracking the gas mileage using the trip odometer that still works. so I know the current mileage. but the new title will have to indicate NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE. Gas gauge reads low. Factory tank is about 17 gallons. but gauge will read empty and light comes on with about four gallons left in it. So. it will never run you out of gas. but if you fill it as soon as it says empty it will only take about 13 gallons. Not good in snow on these tires. Might be better with snow tires but this does not appear to have a limited slip differential. All in all a great cheap ride. It’s like driving a cloud. I drive it 40 miles. round trip. five days a week and I’m only selling it because I don’t want to pay for the tune-up. I’m tired of avoiding rolling the windows down at gas stations. toll booths and the drive-thru at Wendy’s. and I found a new used toy I want to play with for a while instead.
