Description for Mercury Other 1951
255 Mercury flathead V-8 with three speed manual with overdrive. Mostly original paint. Interior, ngine and transmission are all original too. It was parked in a garage since 1964 and resurrected over the last few months. Solid original, erfect for the HPOF class of the AACA. Runs better every time I drive it. It's a little rough when you first start it but smoothes out and fires beautifully. Flatheads need to be driven and this one should keep running better the more miles you put on it. New tires, indshields and gasket, V battery, heel cylinders, oft brake hoses, ebuilt master cylinder, tarter, arb kit, oses and belts, ull tune up with correct ignition wires. The interior is complete except for the rugs. The lights all work including the reverse lights, rake lights and blinkers. The horn, lower motor, adio, nd tempgauge are not working right now but Ihaven't even looked at them. I'm sure it's simple stuff to fix. The charging system works fine. Does not run hot. I've even had it up on the highway and it drives pretty nice out there too with the overdrive keeping it from revving out.
I drove it all over Hershey at the car show this year. Drives well with good brakes and steering, lutch works great, nd there are no nasty noises coming from anywhere.
Loads of these were chopped and customized and it's hard to find good original examples. This one is stock and 100% complete. The original floors and trunk floor have no holes or patches except for one small patch that was properly welded in by me.It was on the bolt in transmission tunnel and it's about a 4x6 inch patch. They do have some surface rust but no holes or soft spots. There are no rugs so you can see the floors. They were rubber rugs that dried up and fell to pieces.
For options it has factory rear fender skirts, M radio, verdrive, everse lights, heel covers with beauty rings, eluxe wool interior, eluxe bumpers and guards I also have the original owners manual.
Mass title in my name with the correct low miles noted on it. Nice car to cruise as it is or a great base for a high end restoration.
If you have questions or would like to see the car in person before the end of the auction please call me @781-771-6783. My name is Jon.

Some questions that I have been asked concerning the Mercury's condition:
Chrome-the front and rear bumpers have some chrome loss down low. The rear bumper has more chrome loss where the water ran over the trunk lid over the years. Headlight rings, ront and rear emblems and door handles have pitting. The hood mascot is in better shape than the rest of the chrome. All of the chrome could be re-plated and would make good cores for plating. It looks presentable at a distance and all of it is straight. Stainless is all in good shape and I have one extra piece for the right front fender.
Glass- The side windows are delaminated and have some cracks and discoloration. They all work as they should with regard to rolling up and down, nd the wing window operation. I left them in because they don't bother me and they have cool vintage stickers on them. New windshield glass and gaskets as previously mentioned for safety and clearer view. The rear window is in good shape and is the original as far as I know.
