Description for Mercury Other 1952
This is my 1952 Ford 3/4 ton street rod truck with clear Illinois Ford title that I have owned for about 5 years. Equipped with 95% of all Mercury badging installed and correct for the Canadian built version (missing round "M-3" emblems located on both sides of hood where V-8 emblems are tastefully installed now). It started out as a rust free refrigeration service truck in Houston Texas. Model F-3 or 3/4 ton (M-3 in Canada) flathead V-8 model with the very rare especially for 3/4 ton trucks "Five Star" trim option with added 3 spear hood emblems and extra stainless trim. The truck (built between 2003-2006 in Houston) is installed on a 1990 F-250 standard cab longbed frame shortened 6" behind the cab to match the 1952 WB (bolted and welded). The frame provides stock Twin I-Beam front suspension. PDB. PS. 8 lug stock HD rear end with much needed updated safety / load capability and performance. The wheels are 16" 3/4 ton Dodge steel with chrome trim rings and correct 1952 Mercury small center caps. The engine and trans is from a 1975 Thunderbird and is a very reliable and powerful stock 460 V-8 w/ great sounding dual exhaust. Edlebrock carb and petronix ignition. Mated to a matching C-6 three speed automatic - both engine and trans rebuilt with about 4400 miles since rebuild and a custom made driveshaft. I just installed a new heavier guage than stock trans pan on the transmission to stop the annoying C-6 leaks and it has a new battery (12/14). Equipped with AC. PDB. PS. heat. radio (needs replaced). twin 1990 F250 stock fuel tanks (both new). all electronic guages and new wiring. Just installed in 12/14 a brand new ($1600) show quality chrome plated stock front bumper and grill (will see both painted and chrome grill in pictures). The truck is painted the original Sheridan Blue with the Silver fenders (Base Coat/ Clear Coat) and black running boards (excellent for a Cowboys fan or not). Windshield has a few flaws and has some clouding around the edges and the passenger door window is cracked but solid. The interior is tastfully done in matching dark blue paint and more chrome with new stock door panels and headliner plus electric 2 speed wipers and electronic speedometer and guages. The steering column is a GM column with tilt and a wooden Mercury steering wheel. The bench seat is a from a Toyota Tacoma with factory blue cloth cover in good shape and it has lap belts The bed floor is finished oak and is 9 ft standard for the 3/4 ton trucks. The drivers rear fender was modified to accomodate two fuel doors for the twin fuel tanks. The back bumper is extra heavy duty and I suspect was on the original truck. There is some pitted surface rust visible thru the paint on a couple of small places on the bed side uprite support standards that was not prepped properly prior to painting but the areas are still painted and the paint over the rust has stayed solid - no flaking. There are very few dings. dents and waives (remember that the besides are single wall) but nothing that would not be expected from a 63 year old truck. I was told the build price totaled over 40. 00 and I have receipts and many pictures of the build process. Way too much new or rebuilt to list it all - sounds. runs and drives very well and as you can see by studying the pictures. this is a striking truck from any and all angles! It would be good to drive anywhere today or to be trailered to a new home (I drove it 800 miles to Southern Illinois from Texas) - definately one of a kind. Please do not bid if you do not plan to or cannot complete the purchase. I will be glad to answer any and all questions. I just puchased a 1957 Thunderbird to replace this truck is the ONLY reason that it is for sale. I will take cash or a bank to bank wire transfer for payment and I am not interested in any trades or help in selling. The truck is located about 120 miles east of St Louis. Mo. Thanks for looking at a very rare piece of automotive history and I believe it was very tastefully designed. completed and maintained. Most drivers today do not even know that Mercury made a truck and now even Mercury is forever gone - but not forgotten!
