Description for Mercury Lynx 1981

1981 Jet Electrica (Mercury Lynx)
Completely drivable and 100% electric car factory built by Jet Industries of Austin, TX. This is not a conversion.
Jet purchased these new from Ford as "gliders" without internal combustion components and built them as electric vehicles.
This car is turn key and driveable. It is fully titled and registered in my name.
This car is a time capsule from the 80's electric vehicle era. There is no better way to get into electric vehicles than these older lead battery types.
They are simple, straightforward in build and pretty reliable. The lead cars biggest limiting factor is the weight of the batteries.
They rob the car of range and performance abilities. If I kept the car, I would convert it to lithium. The conversion to lithium batteries
would give this car an approximate total reduction in weight of 853 lbs.
For an EV, that weight reduction would increase both range and speed.
Only 13,000 miles. There will be more since I usually drive it on weekends. I put 10 miles on it today while running errands.
Transmission: Original 4 speed Ford
Motor: 20 HP Prestolite MTC-4001 series dc
Drive batteries: 16 x 6 volt lead batteries purchased from Batteries Plus. 230 amp hour. Newly installed Sep '16
Car battery: 12 volt, 100 amp hour. Newly installed Sep '16
Charger: Jet on board charger, uses 220 volt plug
Controller: Curtis 1221C controller - new heat sink installed Sep '16
DC to DC converter: 96V to 13.5V converter - installed Sep '16
Wiring: All battery interconnects changed from 1 gauge to 1/0 welding cable with new copper lugs in Sep '16.
Tires: 185/70-13, lots of tread and a little dry rot here and there
Suspension: Mostly stock with addition of heavy duty springs and underbody reinforcements. Car will need new shocks.
Range: 45 to 60 miles from research I've done. I've personally gone more that 20 miles and still had 60% charge left.
Buyer will also receive owners manual, service/parts manual and a 25' charging cord
Interior: Excellent overall
Exterior: Overall very straight with some blemishes. Rear hatch has a couple dents. These were caused by me when I brought the car home and was rolling it off the trailer.
Right front fender has major fading of unknown origin. Besides that the rest of the paint looks pretty good.
AC and Heat: Gas heat and electric AC systems were removed. There is a pic of a pallet with all the parts that were removed.
This is a used vehicle so there is no warranty of any kind. No returns or refunds. Sale will be final.
Please ask as many questions as you need to.
This car is for local pickup only, I cannot deliver it. Car will probably need to be trailered unless you live close or want to go 35-45 mph the whole way home.
