Description for Mercury Cougar 1968

Rare 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 GT. According to the Cougar Club of America only 1845 were built in 68 with the XR7 and GT packages. Original white with tan interior with vinyl top. 390 S-code 4V GT motor with C6 automatic transmission. Factory options include; limited slip 3.00 axle, console, tilt away steering, power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, AM radio, and tinted glass.
Vehicle has been sitting for a long time and will need a complete restoration. Engine starts up and runs no noise or leaks and holds solid oil pressure. Transmission pulls in forward gears but not reverse. New master cylinder, front brake hoses and calipers installed to get the vehicle mobile.
Vehicle does have rust in the usual places for a Cougar. Will need repair to; rear quarters, floor pans, top of shock towers, hood and trunk. Please see photos for areas of concern.
The car is mostly complete. The chrome on the headlight grille assembly and tail lights is not pitted or rusted, which is difficult to find. The only items that appear to have been removed are the power steering pump and AC equipment.

There is a new Holley carb on the car which is to be removed as well as the Mach1 wheels and tires. I will leave the carb on the vehicle until you have an opportunity to hear it run. Will have steel wheels and rollable tires at pickup.
