RARE BARN FIND. 1961 Mercury Monterey convertible. Here's your chance I do not have the finances to finish this great car. As Stated its a 1961 Mercury Monterey convertible. It has the 352 v-8 2 barrel carb. 3 spd. dual range automatic transmission with posse traction. This car was bought at Johnny Haus Lincoln Mercury in Colorado and has been in Colorado its whole life. please check out the vin plate they only made about 7000 of these vehicles. We called them tail draggers because they set lower in the rear. and they just seem to float down the highway. This model was not as popular as the ford galaxies sunliner but they cost more so that might have been why. Things that have been done to this car new tires. new power brake booster new wheel cylinders new brakes drums turned. fuel tank has been removed dipped and coated new fuel sending unit. I also have a very respectable front bumper that goes with the car. Car starts runs and drives but the motor is tired has a lot of lifter noise and smokes on the right side. this car is all original. numbers matching motor as far as we can tell. I also have a whole new set of for the power top. small amount of rust over the passenger rear wheel well. light surface in the trunk. no rust on the under carriage. Please see pics. you could drop a 390 in this and drive as a rat rod survivor or rebuild the orig. 352 and restore to its former glory. Jump on this drop top and you might be ready for summer cruise night.
