I've owned this car for approximately 2.5 years and have driven it fairly regularly, eather-dependent, ncluding at least 10 trips to 45 miles and and back as part of my work commute. While I don't know the full history of the car, purchased it locally from an individual that had owned it for around 10 years. He purchased it locally as well.
The paint is, or the most part, n good condition and shines very nicely. The same can be said about the paint on the included hard top, hich is removable. The interior is not in as good of shape, ut it hasn't bothered me enough to address. The tires have some age, ut have plenty of tread left. The underside of the car appears to have been coated at some point and is peeling off. That said, he only rust issue I would consider significant is on the driver's floor pan. It appears to be two layered, nd the layer closest to the ground has some rot, hough from the inside, he floor still looks and feels solid. The front bumper is in pretty decent shape, ut the back bumpers have some pitting.
The motor runs well, hough I've found it's happiest when the choke is pulled out slightly. Additionally, he transmission and clutch seems to be in good condition with the exception that the 3rd gear synchronizer is weak and requires double-clutching or slow, ow-rpm shifting in order to shift without grinding.
To my knowledge, here are no issues with the electrical system. It can sit for months on end without running or being charged, nd the engine will turn over almost as quickly as it does after sitting overnight. I have installed a CD player with auxiliary input. The car came with residential speakers sitting behind the seats. I replaced them with different residential speakers because there don't appear to have been speakers present when the car was new and, herefore, as no provisions to mount speakers.
The brakes work very well, hough they have a significant enough leak that the reservoir should be checked every 2 months or so. The suspension could use some work if the car was intended to be driven daily, ut it has not been bad enough to cause me concern since I mostly have used the car for leisure on the weekends. There is a shimmy that develops above 60 mph that I believe is either wheel/tire or suspension-related, ut my use of the car didn't require speeds that high often.
Some miscellaneous issues with the car: the windshield wipers work, ut the windshield washer does not. The heater fan will blow, ut it doesn't ever put out hot air. The turning signals work, ut will not turn off automatically after turning one direction (I can't ever remember if it's left or right). The backup lights don't work. I don't have the key to the trunk, ut it can be opened without the key -- just not locked. I also don't have the keys to lock the doors. While it is difficult to roll the windows up and down, t is possible -- the cranks are just difficult to turn. I have some parts for the soft top frame, ut do not have the fabric itself.
I've really enjoyed having this little car, nd I wouldn't be selling it if I hadn't just bought something else. I'm running out of space. If you have a specific question or would like to see the car in person, lease email me. Higher resolution photos are available upon request.
If I seem nitpicky, 'm sorry - I'm an engineer. I've tried to be as thorough as possible to avoid any misunderstanding of the car's condition. That said, 've driven this car a lot - I trust it.Car is also for sale locally, nd I reserve the right to end the auction at any time,
