Description for MG MGB 1971
You are bidding on a 1971 MG MGB GT coupe with 90,359 original miles. Includes BMIHT Heritage Certificate; per the Heritage Certificate, he engine is original to this car. Vehicle is a solid driver, o usability issues, t starts, uns, nd drives just fine. I purchased it last year and how you see it is how I bought it, haven't done any modifications to it; reason I am selling is I found an MGC GT which is what I really wanted so I'm selling the BGT.This car is originally from CA so is nice and solid and rust free (check out the photos): it was in CA till 2012 when it was sold to a gentleman in CT and then I bought it last year (I have a copy of the CA title as proof). Has been garage kept since coming from CA. At some point before I got it the hood was replaced with the red hood you see in the photos, t's an earlier aluminum hood and is not in the greatest of shape; I was going to replace it and then have the whole car painted a more traditional MG color. The grill is brand new and is the more popular earlier style grill as opposed to the unpopular "fish mouth" grill. The wheels are originals which had been repainted silver. Tires are like new. Front shocks are new. It has an auxiliary fuel pump mounted under the hood and is operated via a switch mounted on the center console; I have never had the need to use it as the original is working fine. The steering wheel is an aftermarket 14" Tourist Trophy. As far as I know, he interior is all original. It also has a battery disconnect switch mounted on the rear seat riser (visible in the photo) along with battery jumper posts; battery was converted to a single 12V battery. Has a Petronix solid state ignition. The original carburetors were switched over to a single Weber 45 DCOE. It does leak some oil as nearly all british cars tend to do. I have a clear MA title in my name. The only items I am aware of that are missing are the chrome finishers for the windshield and the back glass. I have the windshield finisher set that I purchased but never installed and am now planning to keep it for my CGT, ut if the winning bidder really wants it, 'd be willing to let it go for something less than the Moss price. Given the car is nearly 45 years old, t is being sold as-is. Being sold for local pickup though the buyer is more than welcome to have it shipped as long as he/she makes the arrangements with the shipping company; funds will have to be transferred and cleared before the car can be picked up. If you are local you are welcome to come see it before bidding. Car is currently located at a storage facility.
This is a really great example of a BGT ready to drive as is, r if you are so inclined given a full restoration. Personally I like originals so had no intention of restoring it, ut that's just my preference. Please ask any questions beforehand. Thanks and good luck.
