Description for MG MGB 1968
This car was placed into storage in 1983 when a carburetor repairwent south and was forgotten until the original owner died and the storage locker was auctioned off andbrought back into the lightin2013. The problem turned out to be incorrect carb needleswere installedand once changed it hasbecome a nice runner and is used as a Sunday driver for nice shortroad trips andthe Route 66 Mother Road Festival parade in Springfield, L. It does not have overdrive and will accelerate through all gears up to red line and tops out at about 105 MPH. Mostly it is driven at 55 MPH on back roads on trips less than 200 miles.
This is an early MK II produced in April of 1968 and I have theHeritage Certificateshowing the Body, hassis, ransmission and Engine are original and numbers matching. Sometime in the late '70's the painted wire wheels were removed and 4 Minator racing wheels were mounted. The tires are Dunlop 165-14 and approximately 60%. The spare is mounted on a wire in very nice shape. The original 4 wires are available.
The factory paint color was Primrose Yellow and the original trim was black with white piping. The car was painted in the late70's in a brighter shade of yellowand the overall paint quality is poor. The body, ith the exception of the left front wing, s exceptional with a few small visible trouble spots and rust damage to the left headlight well and the bonnet has small dents from long term storage. Doors need attention but all brushes and water seals and good door finishers plus extra chrome trim are available Both door cards are in excellent shape as is door hardware and pulls. Dash is original and all gauges work. Oil press gauge lens is clouded, ut haveextra working gauge. Dash has repairablegouges and a vinyl dash cover attached, ooks nice. Have available a complete dash assembly from a later model Mk II with all gauges installed for recovering and have an extra lower radio console. Carpets are in good shape but amateurish installation. The original dealer installed options include the walnut sports steering wheel, he rear bonnet luggage rack and the mono AM radio is available. A logo blanking plate is installed in radio console and cigar lighter does not work.
The engine compartment needs a good cleaning but is complete and relatively undisturbed with the exception of the windscreen fluidreservoir which is notstock and broken.A missing radiator shroud support is available. Believe the valves have never been hardened for lead-free gasoline and holds 145 lbs. of compression averageat 60 psi oil press in all cylinders. Fuel pump is aftermarket but have a NIB correct SU electronic fuel pump available.
This is a bankruptcy liquidation with a very low reserve. The car is being sold where is as is. If the buy it now price is reached, ll extra parts, ome listed above, ill be included in the sale of this vehicle. Otherwise, hey may be individually sold. By necessity, must lose as little passing this along as possible. My loss is your gain. Please do your due diligence, skquestionsand the car is available for inspection and a test drive. Please remember, his is a 47 year old automobile and does need someTLC to build a show quality car. Age and illness have only allowed me to bring the car this far and it is a fun ride. If I am unable to sell the car in a timely manner, he judge has indicated he will order it sent to a wrecking yard and sold for parts and scrap.
Appraised at $6500 retail and $5250 wholesale by a court ordered appraiser and in his report he indicated the car has a much greater value to a wrecking yard for parts since the trusteeconvinced the judge I grossly undervalued the property in the original filing and now I am powerless to stop the loss of one of my favorite toys. Please, erious bidders only. Thanks and happy bidding.
