Description for MG MGB 1971

This is a solid, riginal car with no rust and no body work. I am the ebayer with the rating shown and this is my personal car. My name is on the car's title dated 1992.

Details: We had the car sand blasted in 1992 and changed the color from yellow to blue. There is no yellow paint under the blue. The paint shows well after 23 years but does show scuffs and blemishes. When the body was bare there was no rust and no damage except for a small foot long crease in the right rear quarter panel which was repaired. There is also a slight bend in the right front fender. Test this car with a magnet, ou won't find any filler or body work anywhere. (Hood is aluminum).

The soft top has been in storage since we bought the car because we only drove it on sunny days. The top is in excellent condition and the rear windows are clear.

We purchased this car in Hinsdale IL with an Illinois plate on the back and an Arizona plate on the front. When the paint restoration was done in 1992, rebuilt engine was added and a new interior from Victoria British was installed. New seat covers with new foam were added plus the drivers seat was raised about one inch for better visibility. Now after 23 years the floor carpeting needs replacement. It has a 1967 MG grill and a few other minor changes that could be easily reversed if you wished. The body chrome is more that 90% original. The doors close well and the windows wind up easily. There are no cracks in the door skins near the vent windows as is commonly found on older "B" s. The original glass is good all around. The car has the original keys and the trunk lock works too. Original rostyle wheel rims were replaced with Moss wire wheel kits and used wire wheel rimswith old style knock off hubsadded. The wire wheels and knock off hubs have some rust and wear and could be replaced. Car has the original tool bag, ide crank jack and brass hub hammer. The jack points on both sides work well. It has a full tonneau cover and a smaller cover that just covers the top when it is stowed behind the front seats. There are no head rests.

The engine starts quickly and runs strong. No smoke or excess noise. Oil pressure runs at 60 lbs+. All gauges work except the odometer which quit several years ago at 74,725 miles. Head lights, igh & low OK but no turn signals. Tail, icense plate and brake lights work too. During the restoration several electrical items not completed. The windshield wipers & washer, ig lighter, nd heater accessories are not connected. The dash came with a 'carpet like' cover so we believe the original was sun damaged. The dash was not removed during the restoration so the metal behind is still yellow but not visible. The front floor pan has surface rust but no holes. The car does leak oil from the side panel behind the dual carbs but this area is not pressurized and does not effect the oil pressure. Otherwise no known problems with the engine.

Recent maintenance includes rebuilding the original twin carbs with new gross jets, ew battery, ew front tires, ew water pump and hoses and radiator removed, leaned and tested. The sale of this great car also includes another complete wiring harness, augesand dash from another '71 B, chrome luggage rack, everal service manualsand several boxes of spare parts.

This car is listed locally here in Greenville S Carolina and this auction is subject to prior sale.
