Description for MG MGB 1963
Up for auction is my brothers rare first year 1963 MGB. This first year MGB has the desirable steel dash with toggle switches, pull handle door handles ( only in production for 2 years ) and wire wheels. The car went through a very expensive restoration between2004 - 2009 but now is in need of a freshening up and a door fit adjustment. Selling this week to the highest bidder. Heritage: The car appears to still retain its original engine. The engine number is 18G-U-H-27875 which isconsistent with the production numbers for late 1962 and 1963. So this car appears to be numbers matching. File:The car haswas restored starting in 2004 and spanned5 years and in the end had a filenearly 2 inches thick of invoices totally over$22,000. This file is truly amazing. Mechanically:The car runsgreat and has tight and responsive steering. The car starts right up with no issues or smoke and holds very good oil pressure. The car has been converted toa single Webbercarburetorfor reliability and performance. The car shifts up / down through all gears with no bindingor grinding of the gears. Brake and clutch peddles are strong. It would take a day or longer to detail everything that has been doneto the car in the file with over $22,000 in receipts but some of the high lights would be a complete engine rebuild, rebuilt transmission, upgraded carburetor, new radiator, new gas tank, new fuel pump new radial tires and list goes on and on and on.Gauges:All gauges are correct and original "Smith" brand. Note the tach cable needs to be replaced so I'll order a new one and "try" to get it installed. |
